Ahh I like how you made red riding hood into this strong, tough lady here. XD She's not the typical skinny girl but you can see she's packing some muscle there.
The touch of dirt on her dress also shows the grit of the scene. I really like the foliage in the background too!

Hi, thanks for commenting. I recommend watching Xia Taptara tutorials on YouTube, I used his technique for the background, it was the easiest part of this project.

Oh cool!
Haha I'm a writer, not an artist. But thanks for the tip! My artist friends might find it useful.

Hi! From
I love dark theme fairy tales. Red riding hood among many others!
It's such an interesting tale full of symbolism!
One of the ones i've learned is that it's about a woman coming of age. And here in your art we see an empowered and beautiful young woman, who is fearless! And it appears that the wolf behind her is both wild and yet tamed?(by her) That is interesting to see
I wouldnt want to mess with her
Her red hood really stands out as it contrasts with the dark background and the rest of the colors in this palette. One thing that i find odd is the placement of the folds of her tattered skirt. it doesnt look natural and also i think it would be nice to show more of her right leg so we can see her stance better. It's no big deal, overall, this piece looks great!

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to leave such kind comments.
I agree looking back at this, that her skirt looks like it's made from some really stiff material, rather than soft cloth.

The first thing my eyes are drawn to is her hair! It's so shiny and really looks silver.
Then I see her corset. It is wrinkled and colored in such a way that is really good. She appears to be popping out at you at certain points. (like the corset)
Her pose/stance is epic and awesome, I really like how you did her hand.
The wolf itself looks really cool however, It doesn't seem to match her very well. I think it has to do with the techniques you used on her and not him. idk.
I am most impressed with the background. It looks really awesome!! I love the foggy look and the trees are really spooky. I love how some are lighter than others giving it depth.
All in all, you did a fantastic job.

Thank you so much for the comment. You're correct looking at this piece now I can see the wolf looks like it's been copy and pasted from another image, as red appears to be standing in silver moonlight, whereas the wolf is in a darker scene. Lighting is one of the elements I need to improve on.

You're welcome. ^u^
Glad you could take something away from this. Just practice with extreme lighting differences.
It'll help you learn quicker. Try a dark setting with one bright light from the right side of the screen, than try one where it's coming from above, than below. Things like this are fun and challenging and in the long run, they really help you learn.
(I'm a self taught artist myself. It's been quite a journey.)

Hello from
This drawing looks very good! I had to look right away at her face and piercing eyes. And I love how you drew her white hair!
If I can give a tip, in my opinion her left arm doesn't look correct. It's like as if her arm is from rubber, it is unnaturally bent, on the upper arm part. If you could make this less bent, than I think it looks more natural. If you got photoshop, you can easily fix this without redrawing anything.
But overall, the drawing is great!
Keep it up.

Thanks for your kind comments, and you are totally correct her right arm looks like it has been dislocated from the shoulder, maybe that axe is heavier than it looks hahaha.
One day I might do a repaint of this project to see if I have improved.

No problem!
Hahah axes are bad for your arm it seems haha. XD No worries haha, her shoulder can be located again with some care of her creator.
Ah that's a great idea.

I'm not sure how this was created but it looks quite neat, the background is cool, I like how
the trees were done, the wolf looks really cool and I like her pose, But I feel like this has a flat look to it, like they are cardboard cutouts,
I think shading in a more rounded way could help fix this. I also find that her hair looks more like shiny metal rather than hair, you should check out
some hair references ^^
keep it up

Thanks for the constructive comments.
The subjects do have a 2D feel to them, don't they. I have been looking at some anatomy tutorials, especially ones by Proko about starting with a figures gesture to create a more organic flow.
Hair and lighting are also weak points I am attempting to improve.
Funnily enough, the background was the quickest part of this project

I don't know what to say. It's a very well elaborate piece. I like the realistic tone and also the blood, although I am not a fan of gore.
The wolf is also incredible, though I would suggest you could make it have a fur texture. There are many good tutorials out there.

Hi, thanks for your comment.
I totally agree about the fur texture of the wolf, thought it was OK at the time, but now looking at it I'm like 'Arrrrgh!! what was I thinking'. Still I'm working on another project featuring a wolf, which will hopefully show a more realistic fur texture.
I'm also not a fan of gore, but felt it was necessary as Red was being portrayed as protecting the wolf from the huntsman.
