"When I stand in the midst of the battle,
I am the heart of the battle,
The arm of the warriors,
When I begin moving at the end of the battle,
I am an evilly rising flood,
When I follow in the wake of the battle,
I am the woman (exhorting the stragglers):
'Get going! Close (with the enemy)!'"

Literal translation:
"I stand in battle/war, battle/war is my truth/center/heart,
the men/people/soldiers are mine to move,
at the front of battle I am the raging/consuming tide of men/people/soldiers,
in the back I am the one with the role of pusher/cheerleader [who says]:
'towards the victory we/you [must] run!' "

Another exercise in calligraphy. A hymn of Inanna; one of my favourite gods. She is a Sumerian goddess with many different realms of influence, she is both a love goddess and a war goddess. She is a fierce independent female warrior and I think in some ways a better role model for women.
