Description Something I've been meaning to do for a long time for the benefit of those who'd like to draw fan art of Tetsuko.

As I state in the tutorial itself, the trick to drawing Tetsuko so that she looks like Tetsuko is getting the hairstyle right.

This blew me away. Loved it, love it, loved it. Absolutely loved the shot of her looking at her bangs, straight on.

Very important, however, to not confuse ahoge with ahegao....

I have to admit, the first thing that I noticed on a lovely lady in these artworks is not the muscle, pecs, hourglass figure, hips, or even the bust.  It's the hair.  And that is a winning point for me on a lot.  And Tetsuko has wonderful hair, so that explains why she's one of my favorites.  (Aside from who draws and created her. )

But one thing... the one where she's looking at her forelock from the dead center/half profile view:  the first thing that popped in mind was... "I pity da fool that drew her like that!"

I hadn't noticed the twin "foolish hairs" sticking out that much until just now.  I recall that the title character Hetalia had a single strand of hair sticking out, and he's kind of a wuss and a panicky fool.  But I didn't know it was an actual manga/anime trope.

And I know Tetsuko's nobody's fool.  (Well, she'd been Derek's girl, but AFAIK that's about it.  And a whole 'nother post.)

Unfortunately I'm not an artist, but this is really cool.  I enjoy seeing you break it down, maybe helps me get into your artist psyche.  It reminds me of when I heard that "Peanuts" characters are always properly drawn with five fingers, instead of the four that cartoons usually have.

Having studied hair styles from all over comic, manga, and anime-dom and Tet-Chan's brings sharply into my mind the hairstyles used on many of the core characters of the Lyrical Nanoha series. Their hair is VERY irksome. They have a sort of "rooster tail" (or maybe cowlick?) on one side of their heads, except that, every time they turn it SWITCHES sides. It's always on the same side as the direction they're facing. I don't know if that was a style choice or not, but it just came off as lazy to me in the days of modern animation. It drove me nuts.
Tet's also reminds me of Kenichi, where apparently half the human population has Cammy hair. At least they kept it in the middle, no matter how dull it got looking at every other person sporting one.

What do you mean Tet-chan isn't a double ditz? That makes me sad.
