Description
I played to the light, butIt wasn’t listening; there was not
A soul in sight save for you
And I do not know for sure
That you are even real
Today is the last of these
Visions portending closure
But I could wish for you and me
To subject these preposterous notions
To the annihilation of the rational
And the condemnation of the faithful
But then, what would we have
But the despairing shell of an illusion
Of a dream of contented freedom
When all else is no more
I never imagined that it would
Come to this final resting place
For the trinkets of our childish minds
And the old photographs we
Couldn’t keep because they
Said they didn’t want them around
How contemptible that it should end
This way, and yet we somehow find
Our peace here among the ruins
Of our volition in this affair
For surely there was never something
Of the sort in the matter, so
We must be deceiving ourselves
But, no, that would refute the illusion
And so, we smile plastically, knowing
It always ways exactly what we feared
For if their boasts were true at all
We were never we to act.

hmm, i love that movie! :d Not sure whether or not I was thinking of it when I wrote this, but it does seem to share a certain feel, doesn't it? Incidentally, this is one of the first poems I've written in a long time, and it still feels odd to think myself a poet after so long. My god, the memories...

ah yes...one would think they may forget what they know after long periods of disuse, but i find we never completely forget it. in the end we just become rusty through time. But if we unsheathed our pens, gathered our parchment, clicked on the monitors, activate the cpu's, blew the dust off our keyboards...we would once again write the way the once did before.

or else so much better, as we ought to. I got a new laptop yesterday. Once all the little features to be added are taken care of, I'll have so much more freedom to write! God, I can't wait! By the way, I highly recommend to you the novel, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It's a long but great read!
