Description "I saw him extend his short flipper of an arm for a gesture that took in the forest, the creek, the mud, the river--seemed to beckon with a dishonouring flourish before the sunlit face of the land a treacherous appeal to the lurking death, to the hidden evil, to the profound darkness of its heart. It was so startling that I leaped to my feet and looked back at the edge of the forest, as though I had expected an answer of some sort to that black display of confidence. You know the foolish notions that come to one sometimes. The high stillness confronted these two figures with its ominous patience, waiting for the passing away of a fantastic invasion."
~ Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness (35).

I promised a grainy picture ^^ My scanner really does suck.

I like that you kept the top of the trees in the shot, but somehow I wish the damn trees would be shorter, since there's a lot of empty sky space on the right.

Actually, that's sort of what I was going for with the pos/neg space and the Heart of Darkness quote... like showing the contrast between the power of nature and relative weakness of humanity, fencing off the wild in a futile gesture. Or, you know, something like that.

Grainy, yes. But compositionally unassailable, and that's what matters. Not your fault if your technology fails your vision.

I like how the vanishing point moves from its logical location based on where the sidewalk starts to way the hell on the right side of the image as the eye follows the walk.
