Description New film scanner = old photos on dA!
This one is the second in a set of three photos taken in the Czech Republic (the only photos currently on my wall). The first photo, "hostel postel," is MIA; I'm rather upset about that, actually, because it was probably the best quality shot of the three. The third I uploaded already as "Umbrellas."

I like it... I like how the text is there, actually, it's really like a compare-contrast type thing... or that's how I see it. If I look at it that way, it really looks good.

Buuut... I can see how the text can be distracting, as well. I both like it and don't. I think it could have been better as either the old building or the Kavarna building.

You have to wonder about the kind of people who would sit there in the posh cafe and look out on the ruin.

Again, I agree the text is slightly distracting, but my eyes go in a circle

Nicey done, the colours suit the photo and the composition is good.

From what I saw of the town, I feel like the cafe and the ruin are very much two sides of the same thing; both of these extremes (and all the shades in between) existed in abundance. I find it remarkable that such a place exists, where the two can coexist; America is so different simply because the ruin would be torn down in light of it being an eyesore. I love how this town allowed the present and the past to stand side-by-side.

Yes indeed, it is an interesting way of doing things. I think they are more than just an eyesore, but then I don't have to live with it...

Interesting; the vanishing point is fairly obvious, but it doesn't land on a convenient focal point. The eye moves in an upside-down "U" shape over the image, allowing the viewer to take it all in. The visual contrast between the nicely-appointed canalside cafe and the crumbling buildings opposite creates a wonderful tension. I do think the Kaverna-etc. text is somewhat distracting.

Now that you mention it, you're absolutely right about the text. Thanks for the critique
