Geez, I was supposed to release this on June 10 on Puerto Rican Day (also the end of the Peach break).

Mistakes: the flag folding looks awkward. Damn.
Addressing: Yoshi’s Arm. It’s supposed to look like it’s coming toward the viewer. Well, sort of.

Anyway, being a proud half-Puerto Rican, I decided to express my nationalistic pride for Puerto Rico and draw this. I got help from my mom on the certain aspects of Puerto Rico (she is full on Puerto Rican). I wanted to put Toad in this with the Frog Suit on (to be the Coqui, native to Puerto Rico. It is a very tiny frog). Unfortunately, I had trouble with it and scrapped the idea. However, I did stick to Yoshi being the urban legend Chupacabra with the sunglasses. Sorta worked. For Mario, I gave him the old timer Puerto Rican clothing, complete with the hat. For Luigi, I wanted him to lounge on a chair, sorta basing him on my goofball clown uncle. For Peach, I put her in the flag dress that the women wear (mostly on Puerto Rican Day, to show their love for the island), and traded in her crown for a PR bandana. And for Daisy, something similar, but more revealing. I was about to draw her in the same dress as Peach and reverse the colors....but that’s Cuba’s flag (I ain’t messin’ with that). In the background, you will see the Morro, which acted as a watch tower during the Age of Exploration and used to survey the Atlantic for incoming ships or intruders. To this day, The Morro still stands and is frequented by tourists. I drew this with the thought of making this a shirt design.
I dedicate this to my mom (thanks for the help), y mi abuela (oye, como estas en Humacao? Cuidate, y bendicìon).
