Description
A small tutorial I wanted to make a while back already. People keep asking me how I make my mangapages look so lively... The answer is: Screentones! They add a traditional yet lively atmosphere to linearts and I love them really much =3Many people own MangaStudio and don't know how to tone propery
Have fun!

Thank you for this!
I've only had MS for a few weeks, and have been learning through trail and error. Not exactly understanding why this works, or why that failed. So this was very useful!!

I can't seem to export my images properly. D: The tones always seem to 'shrink', and leave white spaces, or the lines made by the tones look like they were drawn with the pencil tool. Do you have any tips on exporting toned images? This is just another example of what it does D: [link]
And that's at only 5% of the regular image size. I check it out in photoshop, and it smoothes out at 3.2%. Should I just bite the bullet and resize it a lot smaller, and just work with 1200 dpi instead of only 600? Sorry for all of the questions XD Fortunately, I never have that problem with lineart

I admit I've only used a limited amount of tones in Manga Studio. I just find the vast selection of them some what intimidating. Thank you for this great tutorial!

You gotta go to 'Windows' -> Materials to make them show up. However I own the EX version so I have a lot more Then again I rarely use all of them... I prefer working stuff out myself

Great tutorial and easy to understand! I downloaded Manga Studio EX 3 today and when I opened it I thought "OMG! So many windows!"
But now it doesn't seem to be so difficult. Thank you! I'll certainly try it out!

In the beginning it is a little hard to get an overview over the important tools but as soon as you got a hang on it it is an AWESOME program

Is it true that it's also a good software for making lineart/inking only?

Deamond-89 In reply to GiovyLoCa [2010-02-01 12:37:32 +0000 UTC]
Also:

GiovyLoCa In reply to Deamond-89 [2010-02-01 17:40:34 +0000 UTC]
