This is the first time I'm asked for a 3D trade on DA.
There are few 3D artists doing trades. xD
I'm interested but I'd have to look at my schedule.
I could probably make it work if I put it into a portfolio, but we'll see.
Idk if the director wants 100% of my work or using other concepts for that.
Lovely work btw! Let me know what you have in mind! :3
If I would trade there are these options:
decadia.deviantart.com/art/Spe…
decadia.deviantart.com/art/999…
decadia.deviantart.com/art/Ryo…
decadia.deviantart.com/art/Col…
decadia.deviantart.com/art/Dra…
decadia.deviantart.com/art/El-…
If you have others in mind let me know.
I do plan on making some of my more used OC's (some I'm already working on) but
if you want to make them in 3D by all means you are welcome to. Non-Dragons also count.

wow hehe! and that's true, it takes lots of time to make.
It has been a long time since I last used Zbrush but I'm so tempting to start again
I always find it difficult to choose, so if you have any Dragon OC you wish to see I would gladly make it! If not, I'd choose the last one of the links you gave me.
Thanks for your interest, I'm sure this trade will be great

Haha I'd agree.
You still haven't told what you want for yours.
I'll have to see if I can fit it in somewhere. Hopefully the
director can say yes to it being in the portfolio.

I would love to see Goldammer ucaliptic.deviantart.com/art/G… it's an old ref, but here's the newer version of his head www.furaffinity.net/view/18124…
And that's okay. Are you working in an art studio of sorts?

Decadia In reply to GoldammerArt [2015-11-06 19:09:06 +0000 UTC]
Oo, nice I really like the new head version there.
I think it would be fun to do. :3
Yes, I'm working with a studio but also 5 different teams and I've got another
director in college which takes care of the guidelines for student portfolios.
You can't graduate until you've passed them so its imperative that I get his permission first.
Other work I'm doing with 3d is commissions which I work on during breaks along with personal work
so pretty much everything in my schedule is crunched up atm. xD

aww man i really love Inferno! truly one of my fav dragons here on DA and THIS looks truly perfect!! all the textures and perfect details, how everything is shaped it is really cool!! I'm speechless before this!
it is really cool to see Inferno 3d like this! it really brings a new life and vision of the powerful and imposing dragon that he is! you did a excellent job on this!
I really like 3D stuff and last year i had some classes of 3d and really liked it is something really fun and that i would like to learn more of it may i ask which program you used for this? or you have a good recommendation?
awww i would trow you all my money to have a beautiful sculpture of my character like this..IF I HAD MY OWN MONEY ;_;

Decadia In reply to Svartya [2014-10-31 18:13:31 +0000 UTC]
Thanks much!
I like drawing inferno too :3 Though in real life its kinda risky being around religious peeps xD
Most of this work is done in school since my laptop broke recently. I would say the challenge here is making all those
different types of scales you really have to keep an eye on them and also the unique details on the face without over doing it
all while keeping him as majestic and powerful as possible. Having a strong vision of what you are going to do is important
in any 3D program. For this one Zbrush was used in conjunction with a bit of 3d Studio Max. I would mostly credit Zbrush though
alot of people at my school prefer Maya or Max. I was learning Zbrush starting in Middle school to do this stuff(My life was split into becoming a Vet or go into Artistic venues), but the downside is its very hard to learn maya or max or should I say its very easy to forget the interface. I think if I had learned Max/Maya first my work could have been more diverse and hard surface, uVing, topology, render, rigging, ETC could have been much easier topics. I really struggled to grasp those concepts which now most of them feel second nature(Except HS). I recommend trying out Maya and Max at the same time(alternate days). If you want to go towards film/animation be prepared to use Maya more and for Video Games its usually Max. I started using both at the same time due to my classes being on 1 semester and my advantage over other users is that I don't complain on modeling which program is better/easier. Theres not just these programs though theres a bunch of them and really good ones too. I've tried and sometimes use AutoCAD/ solid works, C4D, Modo, Phtoshop(3d), Google Sketchup, etc. End of story its upto you how you want to address your own pipeline.

ohh sorry for the very late reply D:
oh thanks! i know all of these programs but only had the opportunity to use 3d Max and Maya a bit my teachers said one called Mud Box is also good for detailing
ah but these programs can be very difficult to get used to! i don't know if 3d Max is the easiest one but i could get used to it very fast and even could do some cool stuff even a spiked dragon head that actually look pretty cool
but thanks for the hints! i really would like to keep learning for fun some of these programs as i really had fun in the classes i used to do..and i hope i can continue to play with 3d and even create something cool enough for me
Seeing your works of Inferno is really cool i adore this character too!

Oh my god where to begin with this BEAUTY
First off, let me just say that the previous model brought me to tears and this did it again because HOLY SHIT IS THIS INCREDIBLE
This gorgeous bust is spot on to my own ref and it pleases me so much, you have no idea I love how you did a spot-on job with the scaling, and detailing everything in the model. The fierce expression he has is perfect, and I love the slight arch of his neck to add more of an 'oomph" to it. I love it all <3
plus I adore the turning aspect if this to show all of the epic detailing from every angle. Plus the rocky base is awesome too.
HNNGGG MAKIN' ME FLAIL AROUND IN AN OCEAN OF FEELS
and the LED lights idea would be amazing to add if you can asdfgh GLOWY GLOWY
I like the stubby tips of the horns compared to what I have set in his design. Was that an intentional effect, or to be more on the safe side with the print? XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Decadia In reply to DelusionalPuffball [2014-10-28 19:43:02 +0000 UTC]
I based the scales with an experimental technique(not recommended for games) so the scales come out with more accuracy. :3
If I have time I might base coat it and leave the mouth and eyes blank so they can glow, but you color awfully well too so I might just leave it as is. xD
You can even carve in with a needle the places you want it to glow after base coating too
I want to make the tips of the horns more pointy but that might not translate well in printing and I can't fail with the little bit
of resin I have so yes xD Maybe once I get myself a different kind of machine I could make one bigger and at a cheaper price than the super res one I have now probably dropping the prices about 30%.Also the widening would make it glow a bit better :3

DelusionalPuffball In reply to Decadia [2014-10-30 02:05:31 +0000 UTC]
oooo, and the scales look great too XD
That would be awesome if you can and Im not sure about the coloring myself tho lol XD not sure what I would need or anything
that's pretty darn epic. What material is it again? XD
ah, ok. I dont know much about the printing at all though I may be experimenting soon with a 3d printer for 3d design and our models. my instructor hasnt really said much so Im not sure if its gunna be this semester XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Decadia In reply to DelusionalPuffball [2014-10-31 21:39:15 +0000 UTC]
Its a UV Photo-polymeric resin that cures stronger than acrylic, using
.STL files to read. You can color with primer, ink, or just regular paint with
maybe a couple of coats. xP
Thats awesome! Usually they charge material, support material and labor(+print) hours.
I bought a tiny 1"h- 3"w 4hr skyrim dragon in 2010 at a bargain price: 20$. xD Normal cost on their
dimension FDM printer is 35$ to double. And sla 4hr(which is what I have) would easily be 60$+.
Reason for that is the resin is 3-8x more expensive than PLA/ABS, more things such as vats cloud after 1-3 liters, more post processing
and a higher resolution than FDM.
Idk if FDM service prices have lowered since emerging of SLA this year but so far I hear about the same prices.
I plan to get an FDM which is what I should have started with, but right now I plan to get a 3D Pandoras Printer
that actually prints in color(16Mil colors). The material process is still complicated(but easy to learn)-using powder, binder and curing agent for the color printer
but its that same technology that costs easily over 20K(because color and NO supports!!). I'm getting this one dyi for 2,799 and they are helping me with financing.
If you plan to buy one get an FDM first or better yet get the 3D pandoras but just say Dayanna C Refereed you on their contact page I'm helping other people get this printer. They worked it out with me so
I can still finish paying until last quarter this year. I'm steadily making my money back on my last printer and I could even faster if I pushed the prices back to normal so a printer is a good investment if you take the class on how to use them and keep maintenance. :3

ah, so would just plain ol' acrylic be okay if I applied a couple coats? XD
Yesh~ I think since we're students, it'll be free, or at least minor charges
he didnt mention a thing about us having to spend money though. The original plan is my instructor having us go on a Friday or Sat and test out the printer with our models for class XD
ah, thats a pretty damn good deal then XD you still have the figurine?
Sweet~ When do you thin you would get that newer printer? XD Im not familiar with anything 3d printer-wise, which is why Im gunna be volunteering to have my model done whenever we have the chance
Whats the price of those printers? I'll attempt to go for the cheapest someday
Oh man, I would really like to lol XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Decadia In reply to DelusionalPuffball [2014-11-06 17:42:31 +0000 UTC]
Yup! Acrylic should be fine, just thin out places where it covers the details and apply thin coats there.
Oh thats awesome. xD Yes, I still have him somewhere. It broke but I could take some pictures someday when I find him xP
The printer gets to me Q2 2015. I would be estimating around April/March.
They are located in El Monte/Arcadia so I'll take a truck there instead of waiting for shipment which
saves me some assembly days. Theres a chance they may want to take pictures of your model and if they do I requested
to send me a sample. But also I can send you the file (zbrush .ZTL) so you can also print him out in your class!
I'll have him uploaded likely this Saturday at school. If you need an .Stl file instead let me know. I'm sure he measures easy over 1million
so hopefully your school processors can handle it.

I haven't sanded enough yet so its very bumpy. The tiny teeth
were like the hardest things xD So many spikes D: xD
Oh they gave me white/ivory resin instead of clear(they ran out of stock) but
its ok and it prints pretty good. :3 I tested out an LED you can
see it on the picture pack in scraps section. If you use a dremel carefully you can probably
make it so it runs through the mouth.

This is truly a marvel, I often wonder how one uses 3D programs. I've never been able to understand it as much as I would love to sculpt my own characters and given them a three dimensional form. This is truly beautiful, I'm certain Dear gooberbutt will love this very very much. Such a beautiful piece of work this is, the detail, everything, it gives me hope to try something with my own characters someday if I ever come to posses such software XD I love everything about this, it provides soo much inspiration and awe to me, and I'm glad to be able to comment upon such a fine piece of work added to your marvelous gallery.

Thank you! Learning the software is intense and takes time but its worth it if you plan to study film, games, architecture, vehicles and the like.
The fundamentals of sculpting in 3D is essential in my opinion, as I've seen people who never sculpt struggle alot more than those who have. The way you use the tools is completely different than the ones in real life. Its a much more drastic transition than photoshop vs paper. If you would like to try the trials I recommend Maya, Zbrush, and 3Ds Max to start. Some people prefer sculpting traditionally over digital but you won't know unless you try it out.
