Hey, is there a way to make the Sculpey necklace removable? I don't like the idea of having it permanately stuck there.

This is a really late reply, sorry xD . But an idea of what you could do I'd that you shape it onto her, making it fit, then take it off and bake it.

I have a brushable Celestia, but I want to redo the main/tail.
Would I be better off using another tutorial for rehairing it? Or would the way you put brushable hair on it work too?

Can I ask what kind of brushes or tools you use to paint.. Like what brushes dont leave streak marks. And what might be best to paint small details like the eyes & cutie marks?

If people are afraid boiling or baking the clay....Could cold porcelain or air drying clay work?

I believe she just painted over it with white paint and used air-dry clay to fill in the hole made from taking out the mane

This is such an amazing tutorial! I really want to try this! I would just be very nervous about the rehairing...I'd be afraid that I'd mess up...

Hi! Hmmm well other than acetone, if the paint is water-based acrylics it should come out with some soap, water and a really good scrub! Maybe use an old toothbrush for the tight parts? I've never had to strip paint from a pony, but I would do that if I had to . Good luck!

Where did you get the Dollyhair for your ponies?

At dollyhair.com precisely ^^ they have a section for MLP hair with tons of colors .

Thanks. I'm gonna have to start commissions to supplement my income (stuck at home for a week per doctor's orders with a sore back), and I can't find doll hair anywhere in my home town.
(Incidentally, know anyone who'd want a customized McDonald's toy (sculpted head with brushable tail)? Sorry to ask, but I'm gonna need the cash soon.)

Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, I may have to go that route. I'm glad the dollyhair is cheap, because despite depleted funds, I need to buy some to finish my projects (old add age: spend money to make money.)'
I do, too. The pain doesn't bother me if I can sit down...but, I gotta stand where I work.

i'm using this to style my pink celestia's mane (not doing what you did, i don't have the patience) with this tutorial. i know how to braid but i don't get how you did that thing over her horn, like her bangs thing... could you explain it in more detail perhaps?
π: 0 β©: 1
DeeKary In reply to Emilychu [2012-07-24 02:54:36 +0000 UTC]
I'll try to explain as best as I can ^^.
What I did for the braid was that I didn't braid towards the back, like you would do with your own hair. I braided it starting to the side of the mane and towards the front (kinda like this hairstyle [link] ). For the part that "wraps" the horn I just took part of the green stripe of hair and started braiding it from the very beginning so that it would be curled tight and take the shape it should to make that "bangs" effect.
Wished I had a WIP pic to show you, but that was the only picture I've taken of the braiding step . Hope this helped!
