Description
Another of my serial "rectangle-covered bubble" pieces via the Apo 3D hack. This one was actually inspired by looking at my last one and wondering what happened if I put a bubble, and then layers of rectangle-spread bubbles on top, like the layers of an onion. So there you have it...after messing about with the Julia variations and liking what I saw. I tried a bunch of other gradients, but nothing seemed to quite show this fractal's features like a high-intensity full-spectrum gradient. Like, say, ApoMap's default spectrum gradient.
This one took about 18 hours as well, since I've been jacking quality waaaay up. So far, it's paying off nicely.
EDIT: Thank you to ^Sophquest for the Daily Deviation! Also, thanks to anyone who will comment in the next day or so, since I may not get back to you personally. Wow! What a way to start my morning!

Can you say, "FAVORITE"?!
It's pure multi-colored-swirling-polygonish beauty!

I have a young friend who is struggling with fractels, would you explain to her how you did this?

First off, it needs a version called Apophysis 3D, which basically has a "hack" in it to make it render fractals in 3D. Things are a bit different, and in some ways, trickier to deal with on that version.
If your friend is struggling with just the 2D version, I think it might be best for her to get ahold of a bunch of tutorials (just plug in "Apophysis tutorials" on the search) and try to make sense of the 2D version before we throw her at the 3D. Becuase I think anyone struggling with basic Apophysis, shouldn't try 3D until they have a good sense of the program and how it handles transforms, and things like that. There's a very helpful fractal community out there--you could try looking for people who do really good stuff in the fractal gallery. Like, spectacular fractals that she wants to know how to do. Then you can ask them. Most are pretty helpful and will happily give you a hint or point you at a tutorial.
As for how I did this. It's basically started on a single, whole "bubble" transform, which had bubble/rectangle layered on it, and then about...3 I think, Julia(? Been a while since looked at it in Apo) transforms for the multi-sided "dish" that sits on. There's some Zscale and Ztranslate for making the dish sit under the bubble, and the smaller bubbles to look 3D.
But again, I struggled a bit with 3D--everyone, even the real expert fractalists, had issues with it at first--before I got it to work for me. It's not exactly the easiest thing to make sense of, and I still have trouble trying to figure out what other people did in their 3D pieces.

Fractals... you just gotta love 'em, they're just so cool and complicated but in a simple way since they are just based mainly on repeating patterns... but still this is a great one and the colors blend together in a very artistic pattern.
