Description

This is one of a large set of single images posted from "The Barker Hunt" for those who cannot or will not read the PDFs.

I will be glad when we are done with this Julia Greene business so that I won't have to set up one of her appearances ever again. It involves adding several props to the scene, one of which is a gigantic wormhole that is very tricky to position properly. You can't usually see much of it, but you'd miss it if it weren't there. You've also got to tilt and toss around all the buildings in the set, and so on and so forth.

Here we have Esperanza applying the "Ruby method" to the situation. Esperanza is not as good a fighter as Ruby, Jex, or Treece, but she's got a fair punch, and when the Jumpers get in a scrum, she's the one who tends to handle most of it.

Note that in the story, Leyna tells Lon not to run in and apply the Ruby method, they need someone with resistance clothing (e.g. the Jumpers' suits) to do it so they won't run a risk of getting sucked into the effect. However, in "Orphans" we saw Treece apply an emphatic left hook to Julia without having any protective gear whatsoever--and her dialogue implies it's not the first time she's had to do it. All we can conclude is that Treece is just that tough.
