I use Canon 50D and a 16-35mm lens
They are my pride and joy for concerts/dark situations...haha.

Depends how the stage is set up. With Behemoth's headlining tour, both shows I had all access,so I can go anywhere to get the shot I need, however, normally, stuck in the pit, limits you. Usually I dont bring both,if I know the venue,I know what to expect, but if new..I try and bring both my 16-35 and my 70-200mm

I have a little knowledge about it. I can tell you,the closer you are to a subject, the shallower your depth of field becomes, and it can sometimes be a little more difficult,or you can loose detail in the shot. However, if you have the correct settings for the weather/room..you shouldnt have that problem. But,its all "take n' learn" kind of thing, you know?

Thats the good thing with having a digital camera "click/delete click/delete"
Anyways I have been thinking of getting a 90mm macro lens. It should make things a bit easier.
I also found a cool portable photo studio with a screen and two small spots.
