From the abandoned Prairie Observatory, near Oakland, Illinois. Built by the University of Illinois Astronomy Department back in 1968, it once housed a 40-inch reflecting telescope. The site was decommissioned in 1981, and the telescope went to California, where it is still in use to this day.

Now a days, this building sits unused and empty, excluding some of the hardware left behind. This room is what I called the "Block Room" the telescope itself was mounted on top of the concrete trapezoid in the middle of the room. It dominates this room, and extends from this second floor area down to the first, expanding as it goes. The actual telescope mount is part of the third floor.
