Description
From the abandoned Prairie Observatory, near Oakland, Illinois. Built by the University of Illinois Astronomy Department back in 1968, it once housed a 40-inch reflecting telescope. The site was decommissioned in 1981, and the telescope went to California, where it is still in use to this day.

This second floor room is one I called the "Post Room." Of all the rooms in the observatory, this was the one I deemed to dangerous to enter. The floor was rotting plywood, and had many holes near the entrance. So I stuck the camera on a folded tripod, and leaned it through the threshold for this shot. The hole in the wall opens up to the Block Room, and can bee seen in ANP '15.
