Description
Painting by: Alisha K. Ard [link]Poem by: Michael A. Walker (me)
Running
The morning sun sits low on the horizon
Amber sheets diffused by grey
My mind clear; respite
I am Running
Shoes pound the pavement; muscle and tendon
Thundering forth from park to causeway
My laces pulled tight
I am Running
Asphalt fills my lungs; the streets barren
Plumes of hot air slip away
My soul in-flight
I am Running
The contagion sapor of the city thickens
Consumed by an urban buffet
My body bleeds might
I am Running
Sweat-beads rain down as the dense air chastens
Cleansed, yet not defrayed
My heart beats delight
I am Running.
