Oh watchers, I have been so bad to you, promising uploads and then never actually putting anything decent up. I apologize. We're diy-ing most of this wedding (in a month! eep!!), and so any time I have free time I'm working on wedding stuff.BUT, I re-read all four LotR books, and have a good many sketches to color and upload. I will not pretend to promise that they will appear in a timely fashion, but they do exist.
This is the moment in the first book when the Fellowship first sees the balrog and Legolas yells "Aiya!" Which, I like to think, translates in Elvish as "holymotherf*@%^*@#*$withwings!"
I'm digging Gandalf's "really? I mean really?" expression.

I've been browsing a bit through your work, mostly regarding dear Legolas, and eventually just gave up on hunting up the individual pictures and went to your actual page, where I have full access to your lovely gallery and can browse in peace.Β
This picture is fantastic. I LOVE Legolas' expression. And Gandalf's. And Aragorn and Borimir's. Okay, so really, they all have the bestest faces...

Brand new headcanon: Legolas swears like a dwarf who dropped an anvil on his big toe. Only he does it in Elvish, so the only one who catches it is Aragorn. Hence all the privately amused looks they share.

Oh yeah. And then Aragorn is just chuckling quietly to himself and nobody else can figure out why the Ranger smiles when the Elf is scowling.

Then I have to add that I just looked up that passage in FotR and it says that Legolas wailed "Ai! ai!" and "ai" means "oh" as far as I know. Don't want to take away the fun from you guys and I totally love how you translated that but I just wanted to put in my two cents for someone who may not know that^^
Your Legolas somewhat reminds me of the animated version because of his angular eyes but I like yours much better

Trust me, all I can say is keep it coming! I love your interpretation of Legolas and I never imagined him as having long blonde hair until I saw the films, your drawings are much more like how I imagined him!

Love how you didn't make Legolas blonde. Most people dipict him as such becuase there isn't a really clear discripion of him, but if you remember one page four-hundred and somthing it says "His head was dark" I think that was refering to hair color, but I'm not sure. Any who, good work.

Yeah, that point is pretty hotly debated, but it is one reason I gave him a makeover. That, and the fact that I dislike Orlando Bloom's acting and the poncy look the movie gave him.

Yeah, they lamed him down so Aragorn would seem more Kingly, didn't work mind you. What they didn't get is that Elves are suposed to be better than humans; wiser, faster, better with critters, poeticer, just more 'er' than humans. Sure the dude sings but thats just part of his whole thing, ja know?

I also didn't like that they took away the Elves' senses of humor. Throughout all the books they laugh, sing, catcall at Dwarves, quip various witticisms, etc.

I know, and they rushed the senes with Gilardrel and Gimli. Those are part of Gimli's character development, you can't rush that! I really, really, hate how the PJ flim was so rushed. I know that you have to rush things a little, but you can't hurry the important thing.
