Description
Okay at first I though when tri. was going to end everyone would be like. Oh We want Digimon Adventure Quatro(fourth, 04, Next Generation...). Then I thought that what I'd really love to see is a sequel to Tamers. And Kaboom. Digimon Tamers Reload came to my mind.
NelaNequin 's Digimon resources played a big role in this picture so I gave her credit in the picture. I made Takato, Ruki and Jen grown up designs and the Reload title.
Ways.. hope you like! ^^

Well everybody keeps Ruki's pine apple hair style and the generally punky attitude, while I have her attitude a lot toned down, with - more or less - normal cloth to actually quite feminine. Though of course it might partly be, because my story starts, when she is already 17 and later 20 years old... While most set Tamers sequels (and similiar) 3 to 4 years after the original story.

Deko-kun In reply to NelaNequin [2015-03-24 17:29:13 +0000 UTC]
Well now that you mention it. It would make sense for her attitude to be toned down.
I did not think that. Since everything she passed in Tamers she really might wanted a more feminine look.
I guess I did not see that. Though I think if they were to make a real Tamers sequel they wouldn't change her much.
Because fans would make a fuss about it.

NelaNequin In reply to Deko-kun [2015-03-24 17:35:19 +0000 UTC]
In my stories she did hang out with Reika a lot, who became more of a role model to her and since Reika is badass and still feminine and actually does care about her looks, Ruki started to mimic that.
Well, if Digimon Adventure 02 is to be considered a benchmark at all, I don't see, why they would not change her Also, if (and let's face it, that would be the only satifactory solution for a sequel) Konaka helmed the story again, I think he would change the characters, because... Well, it is Konaka. That guy is all about character development.

Well I said that considering tri. In which their designs didn't change. Rather they went back in time. xD
But it's true Konaka would surely change her. Is it so much to ask for a Tamers sequel? :/
But truth be told I don't really know what kind of continuity it could have.
I would gladly watch a new story with them older and an even more mature plot.

Well, to be quite honest: While I would looooove another Konaka-Digimon-series, I don't really want an official Tamers-sequel. Just, because I now spent over 7 years writing my own sequel-saga and hence... Well, suddenly I would not be able to just act as if my head-canon is fitting the canon. I know, this is egoistic and stuff, but hell xD"
Though I would love an OVA or another Drama, about how Takato and the others got their Digimon back!

Lol! I was thinking that too. Since my story involves characters from Tamers. xD
But I'd still love to have another series. I'd be cool! I wouldn't mind an OVA or a drama.
But it would be too short for my satisfaction..
You've written your story in German right?

NelaNequin In reply to Deko-kun [2015-03-25 10:47:33 +0000 UTC]
As I said: I would really, really love another series written by Konaka, though. I mean, for all I care a series, where he can go crazy with Alice in Wonderland, Cthulu and Cyberpunk
If I was to choose a Digimon sequel, it would be Savers. I basicly don't have any head canon there and still it would make a great base for a sequel.
And yes, my story is written in German. And blantly: I just can get my ass up to translate it to English. The chapters are 8 to 11 pages each, aka aroun 4000 to 5000 words, so... It would be a lot of translation work! @.@
Though I have gotten an Email from Japan in December, from some guy telling me, that he actually read the story with the help of google translate and while half of it did not make any sense anymore, he liked the other half that did make sense xD

So right! I really want a digimon series to be even more digital. Like in 02 how they were going from the human world to the digital via a computer. It was the best thing in 02!
Sadly I haven't watched Savers. I want to. But I don't know. I've started it once I gave it a shot.. but I didn't like it.
Though I might try to watch it again. I just can't accept that I haven't watch all the digimon seasons. Savers is the only one I haven't watched. :/
Ugh too bad I stopped learning German. I'd like to read it one day.
Oh that's nice! It's nice to have support!
Can you tell me the summary of it? Just out of curiosity.

NelaNequin In reply to Deko-kun [2015-03-25 12:13:05 +0000 UTC]
Yes, exactly. I really love how much of the story of Cyber Sleuth takes place in the network, while there is also a different digital world. I hear a lot of people complain, that the Cyber Levels in the game look to similiar, but I like that, especially as that design is very, very cyberpunky.
And really, one of the reasons, I don't like Adventure, is, that the digital world just... misses digital stuff. It looks more like a weird fantasy world, rather then having digital elements, like the Data Streams and Dust Packets in Tamers, the Digicode in Frontier or... Basicly everything in Savers. (I missed that, too, in Xros Wars, as only a few layers and the space between the layers had a digital element...)
I can only advise to see Savers. It is a bit slow and aimless at the beginning, but basicly: After the first Perfect Evolution the pace picks up considerably... So much even, that I would say, it might be a bit to fast in the last quarter. And I really love the political outlook of that series, the digital world design and that they were confronted with high level enemies very early. I always hated it in the other seasons, that the big bads waited for the kids to become stronger. Tamers had at least a plot explaination, but I even disliked it there...
You learned German? Really? That is actually nice to know. I don't know any Greek, though I can read the alphabet.
Of course you can have a short summary.
Well, basicly Digimon Alpha Generation (and yes, I decided against naming it "Digimon Tamers Something" ) takes place seven years after the end of Digimon Tamers. Everything starts, when Denrei receives an invitation to a card battle in Shibuya and is met by a strange, goth-looking girl, who leads him away from the populated area and talks rather strangely. When Denrei angers her, she summons a real Digimon and disappears and Denrei is nearly killed but saved by Dracomon, who becomes his partner. He soon finds out, that there are other Tamers and there had been other Digimon incidents before, though he cannot remember those. Soon he teams up with Shuichon (or rather: Shuichon teams up with him, without asking him for permission) and later a boy named Shoji, who also had met the strange girl. But there is something strange going on, as Digimon are appearing all over the city again and not single Digimon, as it had been all the times before, but rather big groups of Digimon... There is something going on and they need to find out what... That is: Before everything goes haywire and the world is at the brink of destruction.

It's true!! Adventure doesn't have a very digital world. It's only now that I realise it.
In my opinion I like Tamers digital world. But I am not a huge fan that humans created them.
It's a little undermining to Digimon and Gods. Of course if I remember correctly they said that the digimon later grew more to it's latest form.
(Right?). I really loved Frontier. It was a nice change that the children were the digimon. But I didn't like that they gave so much more power to the Takuya and Kouji and they literally killed Kouichi. xDΒ I liked the Tamers digital world better from any season.
Oh! I haven't had the chance to know more about Cyber Sleuth. But I heard people said that it's awesome!
Haha! More like the very basic of German. I liked the word Enchuldigung. It was a bit tricky to learn (the word xD). But I really liked learning it.
But I don't have much time and I had to stop.. :/ Oh nice! They say Greek and German are 2 of most difficult languages. Well to me at least German really is difficult to learn.
Oh nice!! Is that goth girl Alice McCoy? Or more like the ghost of Alice?
I've made(somehow in wips/junk ) Β a story before about a world in the future. Then Kaboom a strange race of (Maybe Digimon from a Parallel world or something else) attacks the world and enslaves everyone. So the google protagonist finds his digimon partner (again somehow). And fights in the place of his useless parents (useless because they don't have guns to fight). But the world will be in ruins, since the attack with the (partnership) have some years in between. So the human kind has lived some crappy life before the heroes arise to save the day.
It's a very undeveloped story as you see. My point is that I really love coming up with stories! xD

Well, the humans creating the Digimon is part of a larger theme, that basicly connects all the Konaka series. You see, ever since I watched Digimon Tamers, when I was 11 years old, I loved Konaka's writing style and hence watched a lot of his series. By now I have watched almost every anime series he wrote, and even some of the J-Drama, he did (even the illusive Alice 6 (and my is it weird to see a Reika hanging out with Juri and Miki xD)) and a lot of the series somehow touch on topics, like: "Would it be right for humans to create artificial life?", "Is a creator a god and hence should he be worshiped?", "Do humans need gods themselves?", "What is a god?", "What moral rules should science follow?" and so on. And Digimon Tamers again plays with this questions. After all, the Digimon say: "You might have created us, but we won't see you as gods!" (more or less a direct quote), while the children don't care about this, because the Digimon are their friends. It is really something I love about his series, because those themes are a bit more challenging then simple "good vs evil" kind of set-ups. And it is something I started to value even more, when I grew older and had more of an understanding for this kind of things.
It is also intresting to see, that a lot of his series feature a character with a god complex, who basicly thinks he (or she) is (a) god. For Tamers I would say it is Shibumi and at least during the first half Yamaki, who sees himself as a judging god at first. Have you read the translation of "Digimon Tamers 1984"?
Oh man, what a wall of text. @.@
And yes, so far Cyber Sleuth is great. Once I am through with the game, I might post a plot overview
German is one of the most complicated languages. Though every language has some easy and some hard parts. Though Greek and German are not that far apart from a philological point of view. Yet, I still think it is weird, that Greece still has an own alphabet. Same goes for Russia, though a bit more for Greece, as the letters are basicly the same and you can just exchange them. There are no extra letters, like there are for the Russian Alphabet. @.@
Actually the girl is not Alice, as Alice has a different role to play in the plot. She is in the digital world all of the time, as she is unable to leave that place... Who that girl is, is the mystery for most of the first quarter of the series, which has - more or less like all Digimon series - the first big game changer at Episode 13 and then dives into 11 chapters of basicly pure action.
Kinda contrary then to Battle Generation, which has much less action and is way more about the human struggle with Digimon.
I actually really do like the idea of humans being overtaken by Digimon. I mean, all we ever get in the series, is Digimon - like Vamdemon - toying with the idea or trying to do something, but as all of this always happen, after some children have aquired digimon partners, it is never really played out, as the children of course stop the bad guys. Probably because it is considered to dark...
In Germany there had been a nice fanfiction, that toyed with the "02's happy end was just Daisuke's illusion" theory a bit (if you know that one) and started out with the human world being over-run by Belial Vamdemon and his new army and had the international children then gather around to save the day.

I looked him up in the Anime News Network. It seems he did scenario of episode 13 in 02! It's the one with Hikari entering the Dark ocean.
I really see a bigger picture now. I haven't watched any of his other stuff that he did the series composition. But I've watched some series that he worked on. I will be watching more of his work now. xD
Oh I really hate the whole "evil vs good" theme. You can't even call it a theme. I think a character to be called evil has to be born this way or need something that makes him completely evil. Otherwise he is just bad and good together. Like Vamdemon had really no major reason to be evil.
But I get what you mean.
Oh I didn't even know it existed!!! Wow thanks so much!
Yeah I remember when I was learning German. Both grama method is kind of the same. I don't remember the German I learned so well to make an example sorry!
Oh but there are some extra letters from English in Greek. Like for example Ο sounds exactly the same as ΞΏ. I really facepalm when people are using Ο. In the place of W. It looks like same but it's not people. xD
You need to translate it somehow. xD I really wonder who she might be. Why is Alice stuck in the Digital World? That sounds interesting.
In my story I too have a mystery masked being (It may not even be a human). I have a new method of fighting available in my story in which the Tamer uses the data of their Digimon. And switches for example the Digimon's arms in place of their arms. But the Mystery being has twin japanese style swords.
Oh I did not know there was such a theory. I really didn't like the 02 end. It was an end to add in a childs (5 year old) story.
It had team work okay but eeh.. It was actually kind of the same with Adventure as well right? I think Digimon needs to hire someone else to do their endings. It needs a more battle like end. Right?

You are wellcome
Yes, he was the one behind the Dark Ocean episode. He also was the writer and director of the Japanese TV movie version of "Shadows over Innsmouth". I have seen that movie, too, and the imagery in the Dark Ocean episode borrows heavily from that movie. It is rather fun to see. Konaka is also a big fan of Lovecraft, so you will also find a lot of hints to that. (At some point, when I was around 16, I felt, I just HAD to read the Lovecraft stuff, because basicly all my writing idols where into his works xD)
If you want any recommendations for Konaka-series, just ask me
Yeah, the "evil" stuff is another reason, why I simply cannot bring myself to like Adventure anymore. "I am your new enemy and I am evil just for the heck of it!" I mean, say about 02 what you want, but at least the bad guys (apart from Vamdemon again, of course) had some reason to be bad or some explaination for it.
I know. After all it is the small omega. XD I know that, because I had physics advanced classes back in school and in science formulars you have a loooot of Omegas. Big and small.
But yeah, grammar is pretty similiar and from what I have learned, so is the sound of the language and the speaking melody.
Yeah, maybe. Or I need somebody who would translate it for me and is quicker in translating then I am >.< Geez, I really want computers to become able to generate natural language.
Okay, so humans partly fuse with their partners? What happens to the arms of the Digimon, when the human uses them? Or do they just, like... Both have them?
Well, as for the 02 ending. It is kinda a mixed back for me. I like some aspects of it. For once, I really, really, REALLY do love the scene, whole heartedly, when "Bokura no digital world" starts and we see earth from above with all the lights starting to shine. It is really a great scene. So is the "the dark spore children realize, they can still have dreams" scene. But I hate, that Vamdemon is pretty much defeated by the dreams alone and that there is so little of a fight. Really, I think an ending like Xros Wars would have been more fitting. Like everybody giving their power to Imperialdramon and Imperialdramon and Belial Vamdemon having a last big battle. And of course: NO GOD DAMN EPILOGUE!

Hmm.. I think I'm going to watch Air Gear. Which is one that he made. I'm more into shounen anime.
I was going to say the villains in Adventure had a reason. But Devimon just breaks that right away.
Which is as you said the big bad guys Dark Masters and Apocalymon wait to show up at the end.
Practically waiting for the protagonists to grow strong.
Well Vamdemon had a reason? Not really. It was just to find the eighth child. Which was.. totally random.
No backstory to make him eager to find that child and... do whatever he was going to do.
But I really like Vamdemon. He didn't had a reason but his arc was the best in my opinion.
The sound of the language? Oh no! Haha I have tons of trouble speaking in German. xD
Like really I don't know why though..
I haven't learned much but I really like how difficult it is to learn it. I think that's what kept me going.
I want to learn more.. T_T
Well there are businesses that do that. It may cost much though.. Considering it's not 1 page. :/
When I'll learn more German, I'll give it a try to read it!
Yeah they both have them. It was a little tricky but I tried to think all that could be questioned.
It like in Tamers that the kids became data (If I'm wrong correct me please!) when they entered the Digital World.
So they can mix their data and have their Digimon's arms, ears, feet.. etc.
But if their partner were on the Ultimate level their arms would turn in to the Ultimate level's arms.
Like for example Taichi with Wargreymon's arms. It still need more thought though. :/
Yeah I liked those scenes too. Just would prefer a different scenario. :/
I was going to say what I would prefer but it'd be total random. xD
I kind of liked the epilogue. But because it meant that the more and more children (In Generation)
would become the chosen children. Crazy though following..
In the last episode of Adventure Gennai told them that they weren't the first chosen children.
And we see a picture of them . What if they were their children?
Okay I don't think that they planned that ahead. But maybe they improvised somehow at the end of 02.

Well, Air Gear is a fun anime, but probably the worst example when it comes to Konaka's writing, as it is not his story but just a manga, he did an anime adaption for. Hence, there are none of his themes present.
Most his series are Shonen (and those who are not, are kinda odd-balls), the one's who represent his style best, are probably Lain, Texhnolyze, and Ghost Hound. Though Lain, of course, is a really, really weird anime and Texhnolyze is something I would not recommend for... "beginners", because... Well Konaka's writing style heavily relies on what is called "rising action", meaning, that his anime start out slow and pick up pace. But Texhnolyze starts painfully slow - which has a reason in the greater pictures, but it is hard to get through the first couple of episodes, especially the very first episode.
Ghost Hound is a good mixture. It features some lovecraftian elements and has really his basic kind of writing (after all he wrote every single episode of this series himself ) and also features an alternate but also red haired version of Reika and a main character, that certainly reminds me of Takato.
Oh, an one word of warning. ANN also features NaruTaru in his list. But NaruTaru, as well as Bokurano (both based on Manga of the same Mangaka) were actually helmed by his brother, though Konaka was creative advisor. Both seem to be befriended with the Mangaka (and honestly: It does not surprise me, because that guy is also a weird one). Though I can only recommend the NaruTaru Manga, because it is a really nice deconstruction of the "child meets monster, child befriends monster, child and monster become partners" genre. Though on the other hand, it also comes with a warning, as it features a lot (and I really mean A LOT) of death and especially one very bad case of murder.
Well, when I was younger, I also liked Vamdemon, because... Well, he was a vampire. xD" But when I rewatched the series later, I was there: "Wow, out of all the bad guys he is basicly begging the most to be killed." After all he patiently waits out, while the children are apart and sends only his weakest minion after them. He could have easily killed the children one by one, even by just sending his bigger guns, but no, he waits for the children to reunite, before attacking directly. The only thing, I really do like about the arc, is the fact, that they are in the real world, because that makes for a nice change. Oh, and the artistic direction of the Lillimon episode
Well, I think maybe a bit different about languages, because I look at them from a more philological point of view and conpared to the roman languages or slavic languages, the sound of Greek is closer to German then most European languages... Well, okay, the scandinavic languages are a weird ball. They go back to a similar language ancestor, bust hell, it is so hard to speak. I know a little swedish and danish, but damn... Swedish is hard to speak.
That sounds like a good idea. And, well, maybe there is someone, who is willing to translate for less. (Though official prices are not that high in Germany, since we have soooooo many English translators. But for a student it is still to expensive.)
Well, it is a digital world and data can be copied, so it might work
When it comes to the epilogue, I just hate so many things. For once I hated the jobs, especially, that they were so gender coded. Also I hated, that everybody was seemingly married and had children. I mean, darn the epilogue, I still don't think Ken and Miyako would make for a good pair.
And while I like political problems that come along with a lot of people having Digimon, but that stuff was only hinted at in that epilogue.
As for the "original children"... While I do love timetravel story, the sad truth is, that Nishizono admitted to never really have thought anything of the "well, there were children before you", it was just something he made up last minute, without giving it to much though, as who they were. They just reused pictures of our main characters, because nobody felt like coming up with new designs <.<

I only speak Greek and English!
And some Japanese and some German. But not much of those.
Yeah! xD
It's true! But I like to think they were in a hurry or something so I won't care much.
But they should have done a better job with those things. I think..
Yeah I've read that too. But I like to think that he lied and is planning something for the future.
xD Kidding. But it'd be better if he just didn't add them. You can't put something like this on the plot.

Yeah, Lain is weird, but it played a big role in developing Tamers later. Well, at least to some degree, as some themes present in Tamers are taken from Lain and Juri - as a character - was heavily influenced by Lain herself (which is why they both share the same voice actress in the US dub).
Funny enough by now my favorite Adventure arc is probably the one I hated most as a child: Etemon. Because Etemon is insanely sane for a bad guy xD"""
Well, I love learning languages xD" It is really fun and can be very intresting.
I tend to blame Hiromi Seki for everything, and really. From what I get, I am not to wrong with that xD

Only if they can get the guy who mainly wrote Tamers to come back, if they can't get him then they best not try.

My friends and I joked about this recently, saying that they would try to get Gen Urobuchi (of Madoka Magika and Fate/Zero fame) to pen a Tamers sequel.
Thinking on it now, as much as I enjoy Urobuchi's work, if that did happen I would be scared.

True, it's not a bad idea but it's a risky one

Well unless they get someone who is as good!
But I agree. I wouldn't want Tamers ruined.
