Description Tutorial for a Man's torso (No clothing). It will work for a woman as well, however in the second half of this one, I'll cover the differences ('softer' muscles, less definition, breasts).

I don't know how to explain this much better than I did. The 'kidney bean' is something I learned from my husband, and it works very well. The Butterfly hip trick I learned in an 'Anatomy for the Artist' book. Can't remember the title...References for the muscles were found on various medical sites online. I mostly included them because knowing where they are is extremely helpful for me.

As usual, no tutorial is helpful without hours of practice and a wonderful reference library.

nice comparison's to well-known shapes! i can honestly say i've never thought of the torso of the male human body as a kidney bean, or the hips as a butterfly. very helpful

Very informative and helpful. ^^ Thank you.

Do you have any suggestions on where to find good references? I seem to have trouble with how the shoulders and chest connect because I don't quite understand how those groups of muscles look in different states of contraction or relaxation on males. As a female, I can always use myself and a mirror as a reference for female bodies, but I have no idea where to find a good reference source for male bodies.

Such a useful tutorial! I really like the tricks and tips you gave. I gave it a try and it works beautifully! Thank you so much for sharing! I had an issue with male torsos, but now with a little practice and using your tips, they won't be so difficult. ^^<3 Thanks again!

Wow, good tutorial. I'll certainly use this as a reference the next time I need to draw some guy naked.

...

Wait, that didn't come out right..

LOL In any picture I draw, the character always starts off naked. Clothes come later, because other wise I can't get the body quite right...

Sorry. Childish.
Really dig this though, you have a couple of nifty tricks that I hadn't even THOUGHT of trying. I will be using this.

I'm glad it's helpful I was worried that I gummed it up with too much doctor/anatomy-speak

I understood most of it (my mom's a nurse so some of it rubbed off... haha) I enjoyed how you broke all of it down

It's alarming how. . . enticing that sketched rump is.

In other news, I am LOVING this tutorial!
