BACK STORY - At 16 years of age, Jonah Payne makes a deal with the Devil Mephistopheles; he sacrifices his own very soul in exchange for his mother, Sharon Payne's, inoperable brain tumor to be removed and her health to be restored to her. The next morning, Jonah and his father, Tobias Payne, enter her hospital room to find her with a clean bill of health and her tumor gone. The deal worked and Jonah has more time with both of his parents. Unfortunately, that doesn't last.

Months after that, after getting kicked out of school for a fight he got into with a student, he got into an argument with his dad and left on his motorcycle to clear his head. When he got back home, he found both his parents dead in the kitchen with signs of physical beating and torture. As he kneels down, grieving for his parents, the Devil arrives to imbue Jonah with the power of the Ghost Rider. After that, he mounts his hell-cycle and seeks his revenge against the animals responsible for his parents' murders.

One by one, the Rider tears the killers down in a variety of horrific ways.

The next morning, he finds himself in the middle of nowhere, horrified by the things he's done before making a solemn vow, not only to seek justice and inflict vengeance onto those who prey on the innocent, but to never kill again, no matter how horrible or heinous the perp's acts.
