I’ve been seeing this around lately. At first I wasn’t gonna jump on this bandwagon, mostly because when you ask what are some influences for me are, I can be all over the board. Depends on many factors such as my mood, what I’m working on, latest obsessions, etc.

So I tried to pick some things that are fairly generic that are influences or things that seem to be with me for either almost since the beginning of time or lately is on my mind for a long span of time and figure they will always be to some degree now.

Also, it’s sorta rated with the largest to smallest, but honestly to me that don’t mean much. I don’t like rating things. Music is probably a big thing but after that it could be generically broken down to Music, Books, and Movies are the big influences. Specific Ancient Cultures would be one as well.

1. Music: A huge inspiration to me. Everything from Disney music, to movie soundtracks, to ethical music like Native American/Deep Forest/ Conjure One/ Enigma to some techno, to some random R&B/pop songs. Anything that sounds good and makes some sense to me. The only thing is I don’t like rap or country.

2. DA: This website….need I go on. So much great art and inspiration.

3. Alichino: More a representation of anime/manga. No, I’m not a huge fan like I use to but it did help me get started. Sailor Moon, DBZ and Pokemon(All English versions) are some early animes that got me started trying to draw. Alichino is one of the mangas that I influence my style from---Side note: It’s my first manga I ever got since I learned about manga some years later after anime.

4. Ancient Egypt: My favorite ancient culture since I was a kid. When I want class, elegance, sophistication and creativity I go back there.

5. Native American: Probably my second favorite culture. I love the respect for nature and the music, everything…...

6. Tyler Perry: AKA Madea. Recently found this great creative man I like 2 years ago maybe. I love Madea and I love the simple basic and spiritual lessons he has, plus it’s funny as well. I have many of his movies. Gotta get the plays….I got one so far.

7. Avatar: A lot of it has to do with the fact I love nature/Native American/live in harmony kinda thing. Also the artwork and technology but the story itself is beautiful in so many ways. I wanna be a Navi! Even though Tsy’tey is no longer with us, I’m like ‘hey Neytiri since you don’t want him, I’ll take him. That’s no problem!’ More for us ladies.

8. Nature: I sometimes get sick of the buildings everywhere…. Forest, oceans, pretty space type pictures….I love them all. Nature influences a lot of my music/movies as well…etc.

9. Books: I was brought up reading before I could even fully read, lol. I love to read, though it’s more selective reading. I can’t pick up any genre/any book and read it. I also love fanfiction. I can sit for hours and read fanfiction.

10. Apocalypto: I love a lot of movies, but this is a wonderful movie. Again an ancient culture that lives with nature kinda thing and we get to visit another ancient culture that doesn’t get enough love in movies. Side note: I love a lot of ancient cultures, mostly Native American/African/South American. Btw, I love Zulu as well, mostly from Shaka Zulu.

11. Disney: Grew up with them and I love them. Aladdin and Pocahontas are my favorite Disney movies. I also love the Disney songs. Also, the other Non-Disney Animations at the time such as Prince of Egypt/Anastasia/Swan Princess….etc.

12. CW Supernatural: Although, my nerves are shot when it comes to this show, it still is the best TV show. Brotherhood/Friendship/Loyalty all of that and then some are messages I really enjoy.
