Description
A Drayon is a large predatory lizard that lives in envronments ranging from moderate to tepid to tropical. Though they have many physiological differences, Drayons are commonly thought of as lesser dragons. These cold-blooded carnivores travel across the globe, preferring the warm environments, but not necessarily limited to them.Drayons are, to put it simply, dumb. Their evolutionary pattern never required them to have complex brains, so their level of intelligence is very similar to that of a Tyrannosaurus. Drayon are also relatively slow; they may have a semi-upright stance that makes them faster than their sprawling lizard cousins, but they lack the body structure to leap or bound, and so are limited to variations of "fastwalking". The nomadic nature of the Drayon is not actually due to a resourceful nature, but simply because the creature is not smart enough to claim and remember familar territory.
A Drayon's strengths lie in it's powerful muscles, silence, and stamina. Drayon may be slow, but they have powerful jaws and sturdy limbs equipped with opposable thumbs for grabbing and holding (this also aids with different terrain). Despite their vivid red coloration, Drayon are also good at stealth, as their widely-spaced hands allow for even distribution of weight and minimization of impact volume. Drayon also do not emit much in the way of vocalization, aside from the occasional snarl.
But a Drayon's true advantage is its near endless reserves of stamina. A Drayon's body structure may be clunky, but it is solidly built to last. In the event that a suprise attack fails, the Drayon may decide to continue chasing its much faster prey until the prey loses the stamina battle and collapses from the effort. To this end Drayons have instinctively learned to be persistent and to maintain focus on a specific creature rather than be distracted by the multitudes of other ones.
Though there are far worse creatures to encounter, the Drayon is none too pleasant. It's top speed is faster than a normal humans (still slow for most animals) and it is not easy to shake off. It is reccommended that one immediately attempts to head to colder areas, or better yet, water, if chased by a Drayon. Do not climb, as the Drayon is probably better at it that you.

Drayon: Bigger than a monitor lizard, but a wimp compared to a real dragon.
Still, if they were smart enough to understand human speech, I'm sure it would be flattered by your commentΒ Β

It's probably better at climbing itself than you are, trust me.
