Description Although previously stated in an entry involving angels, it should be restated that pure good and pure evil are concepts that, in their most polarized form, tend to become self-destructive. An entity of pure goodwill and nothing else would be unable to defend itself, and possibly kill itself directly or indirectly to serve others. And entity of pure evil would only know destruction, would only be treated with hostility, and eventually be destroyed by other forces. Because of this, most (surviving) lifeforms operate on a sort of physical/moral algorithm: They fall somewhere on a spectrum between good/evil and weak/powerful, never quite reaching the polarized ends of both spectrums. In some areas of the Phantom Universe this technique is evident: many powerful creatures are apathetic, and many evil ones are relatively weak. Even Phantom himself is inadvertantly guided by these dictations, for he is a powerful entity, but confines his actions to the areas he owns and does not desire to become a a warlord and terminate all life. Thorston on the other hand falls at the opposite end of the spectrum. He is a classic monster; what you see with him is what you get. He is not immune to physical harm, cannot fly, and has no magic or "deity" powers. However, his cruel nature rivals that of the Tall Man, perhaps even surpassing it.

In life Thorston was always a sinister brute. He had four bladed arms, and absolutely loved to use them. Though he has teeth, Thorston possesses no mouth or digestive system, but instead absorbs fluids (like blood) through his red skin, extracting both nutrients and emotional charge (mostly fear) for energy. He was an intelligent monster, but he may as well have been feral. Because of his evil nature and not so intimidating power level, it was only a matter of time before his behavior made enemies, and those enemies found that they could easily kill him. Thus ended Thorston's first life... and begun his new one in Phantom Hell.

Thorston has been a creature of Phantom Hell for a long time. He was never that powerful, but with time and endless death comes experience, with experience comes boredom, and with boredom comes forced ingenuity. Motivated by the desire for amusement and the joy of ending life (even if it just respawns somewhere else because things don't die in Phantom Hell), what many don't know is that Thorston holds deep insecurities about the fact that he will never attain a level of power equivalent to that of a god (and there are a lot of god-level and above eldritch beings in Phantom Hell), or anything more than a normal six-limbed monster. As a coping mechanism, he takes savage glee from destroying what he can destroy, namely those who are weaker and less experienced with Phantom Hell (the recently dead). He forever roams, forever killing because he is eternally set in a specific "power level" as it were.

Of course, Thorston himself is not immune to attack/predation by Phantom Hell and its other residents, just as the god-level beings are not safe. Thorston may be a monster, but at his center, he is just that. A "normal" monster. He is as unique a resident of Phantom Hell as one person in an urban environment is different from the rest, yet he was posted here as an example of what the realm can offer, or rather what it can use to take away...
