Alex Mercer, AKA Zues, from the game [Prototype].
I've been all over this game for nearly a month now, playing it on normal and now going through it on hard. I absolutely love it; It's just so fun to play, and to me, doesn't even get repetitive. It just gets better the more experience you gain with it, I think.
Anyway, this is probably one of my favorite attacks from him; the Tendril Barrage Devastator. Ever since I saw it way at the beginning during the tutorial, I fell it love with it. I mean, who doesn't love shooting viral tentacles at your enemies...?
Also, it was going to be just a white background... but that's boring. So I put red and blue back there, to kinda symbolize the ongoing clash between the infected and the military throughout the game. And then there's Mercer, in the middle of it all, fighting against both most the time.
This took about a week and a half, on and off of course. I really got stuck basing and shading those damn tendrils, since they're multicolored. But, I got through it! And I'm quite pleased with how it came out.

Hahaha, oh, those tendrils... |D They were just a grey splotch on my computer screen for at least a couple days, just because I didn't want to do them XD But I'm glad you like them and the piece. :33
I just did a slight radial blur to make them pop like that (Duplicated the layer of the finished piece, radial blurred at 3, then put it to 75%). It's those little things that can tie a piece together~

Right now, though, I still have Magna Carta to finish for the 360, TOA for the PS2, and Pokemon Soul Silver, Pokemon Pearl, Fire Emblem and Cooking Mama still sitting around for my DS.
But I'll definitely check it out. I'm sure my work has a couple or two lying around that I could rent. Oh the perks of working at a game store.

You did a really wonderful job on this but just from playing the game I think you might be showing too much of Mercer's face. Maybe it's just me but deepening the shadow over his eyes would really help it feel part of the dark shadows on the tendrils and make the colors of the background pop more.
Plus I always thought of him as more of a sulky shadowy person <3

Yeah, I thought about that... but at the same time, I didn't want to cover up his eyes. I like his piercing gaze! (They always still managed to show up in the cutscenes too, haha) But you are right, it would add more to it. Maybe I'll just darken it a bit, but not too much...
Definitely a sulky, shadowy person, with a hefty need for VENGEANCE!! *dramatic voice*
