Description Please see PART ONE as well!

If you'd like to see the full entry, please go here: to YOUTUBE ! The Youtube version loops twice and includes some music to play along with it. Thanks!

Medium: Hand-animated cartoon image of a battle scene, drawn, colored and put together using Photoshop CS3.

Tools employed: Pencil tool for outlines (to make sure they were solid), fill tool, brush and smudge for color.

References: Background drawn from the following references, courtesy of the Hubble telescope: [Here ], [here ] and [Here ]

Content: Christine and Alice battle for supremacy in the Omega Tournament, Round One!

About: I wanted to convey a lot of the interesting details about Christine's style of fighting that I got from reading up on her latest incarnation when I saw that I was paired with ~inu-nutfan , and couldn't think of a good way to show off her skill without doing multiple images. The more I thought about it, the more excited I got about the idea of trying to actually animate part of the battle. I have storyboarded out more than you see here! In the meantime, here is what I was able to finish within the deadline.

Processwise, I did a storyboard of the full animation that I wanted to convey first and then split it into four main pieces. Betweening, cleaning the lineart and then flat-color followed, with a little bit of shading added where I had time to do so. The backgrounds were added last, and then I compiled the pieces into a whole again. (Though only two pieces made it from storyboard to full-color format, alas!)

Some big challenges I encountered while putting this together were consistency, and figuring out how the body moves, and where.

I've been working almost non-stop on this for the last two weeks. It's exhausting and fun and everything I like about art, and I'm really proud of how smooth it's come out! I wish I'd had more time to work on the color so I could add shading, but I still think the lineart is pretty clean, especially for me!

Other Notes: The details of Christine's costume were some of the most fun to animate! I coordinated heavily with ~inu-nutfan , who was really nice and helpful whenever I had questions about Christine's character. The sword as pictured here is a broad, flat, fantasy-style sword, but the one pictured in Christine's original design is more like a traditional longsword. ~inu-nutfan explained that the sword could change shape as needed and that Christine's weapons are actually variable, so I decided to give her a really huge sword and make her look super-buff to better contrast Alice's physical weakness.

Having a basic idea of what events I needed to animate gave me the opportunity to pursue something I really wanted to try out. I feel incredibly accomplished, and am so grateful to ~inu-nutfan for the chance to draw her character doing some crazy stunts!

You can find the accompanying short story for this piece [here !]

And if for some reason you'd like to see the storyboarding for the rest of the animation that I'd originally planned, it can be found here in my scraps as well: Part 1 and Part Two.

So much action, epic seems like an understatement for these.

I love how both animations are full of action and so dynamic. Gotta say I didn't expect to see an animated entry

Aw, shucks! Thank you! I was surprised to discover how much I enjoy animating when I take it more seriously like this but you're right, it's really time consuming!

Thank you! Oh man, the youtube video is pretty self-indulgent, but I so wanted to put the fight scene to some exciting music, haha!

Ahaha, I don't know if I have enough free time to do another animation next round, but I sure would like to try if I can!

Haha, I'm glad they look okay! It's the smoothest animation I've ever made, and I don't have any training so I was just winging it.

It was going to be even more epic! I had a really good time making the animation, though. It was so crazy!
