In this case imperfection IS perfection. The design feature that one hangs lower is perfect in function. If one didn't hang lower then they would constantly be banging into each other. When unrestricted the lower usually retracts to about the same level as the other. Aesthetically, it is usually better that they are level, but I shot this before that could happen.
