This is not a geisha, but a woman who used one of the maiko costume boutiques of the area (at least, that's my wager).

It took a while to get this photo. Kiyomizu is insanely crowded, so it was hard to set up a clear and close shot.

Until now, I've avoided sharing photos from my time in Japan because I didn't want to treat dA like my facebook account. There was so much natural beauty and exoticism for the Western eye around me. So many of the photos took themselves; it felt awkward taking credit for the charm in them.

B~ut, some dA friends asked me to post them around here, so I've been digging through my collection and looking for those that were more than quick snapshots.

Hope some of you can enjoy these little peaks of Asia!
