Superb job on this IR shot. I love everything about it! The barrel distortion on the tower looks a little funky though.

pardon ?
im quite aware of the issues of barrel distortion .. but i do not see any in the pic .. the lawn has been mown that way and the trees are bending towards the center of the image ..
what do you see ? show me please !
Cheers

Oh, well, in addition to the lawn and trees, I just meant the tower itself looks a little barrel'd
But it is possible that this is the shape of the actual tower
Perhaps I am mistaken.

that might be so .. cause when you take a closer look at take 2 ( [link] ) you can see that the tower itself isn't all-the-way orthogonal ..
i hope it that is what you meant .. if not i really like to know what you see ..

I think it's just a mixture of both the original tower not being orthogonal and a little bit of barrel distortion.
It's really not that big of a deal. It just caught my eye in a nagging sort of way.

Now I see the powerline you said you got rid of in the other one. It was certainly a good decision to do so, I could see how it would detract from a shot with a tighter crop. But with this wider angle, I like the way the trees frame the building and bring balance to the compostion.

yeah .. i kinda dont like it in here either .. but in the other one it would have messed it all up .. and since i couldn't fire up my
and tear that powerline down i came up with removing it afterwards
Thanks!

The coloring gives a rather eerie effect. Beautiful tower, looks like the sides are bowing out, am i right? Great shot.

fantastic sky! the view is great, maybe if the tower where a bit larger and the image were cropped upright it would be even better

My goodness what a stunning image. The colour tones are what make this so intriguing and catching. Nice composition, too, framed by the grass below and trees to the sides. The tower stands out beautifully.
Lovely shot!

This shot is incredible. More then anything, the colors are what make it work. How did you get the sky to have that look? Anyways, bravo and well done!

Thanks ! well it is faily simple .. because i used an R72 ( infrared pass ) filter .. and applied a custom white balance .. later i mixed red against blue and vice-versa .. done ! ;D

This is so gorgeous! THe only gripe I have is a wish to see less grass and less area left and right, so I can see the tower more clearly. It's not bad by any means - I love the angle you took this and it follows all rules of photography well. But this is just such a gorgeous piece of architecture, I'd like an in-your-face detail and closeness. This is sooo cool and dreamlike!
Fav this!

Gorgeous capture. I really like the composition and the unusual structure's appearance in the scene. I couldn't add anything to make this image better. By the way, do you find that stacking the IR Filter on top of the UV Filter causes vingetting or compromises sharpness? I've avoided stacking filters for those reasons, and I wanted to get your opinion. Excellent work!

deviant-spock In reply to Wessonnative [2006-06-25 15:25:07 +0000 UTC]
thanks a lot .. im glad you like it
stacking filters does cause some vignetting, even more when just adding a CIR-PL (i have the slim one) , it does not bother me that much cause i sometimes want to have that little vignetting!
i could not see any difference in image quality or sharpness .. didnt render any of your stated problems so far .. im using the HOYA R72 with standard coating and the UV(N) with the HMC coating .. so far there wasnt any noticeable flaw ..
Thanks*

deviant-spock In reply to bleeding-rose [2006-06-25 13:07:41 +0000 UTC]
ja genau in apolda .. ein R72 Filter ist ein Infrarot-Pass filter, der sichtbare wellenlΓ€ngen des lichts sperrt und nur langwelligestrahlen durchlΓ€sst (>720nm) ..
