Details
We were using a very simple circuit .. [link] .. but it is very neat .. i put the piezo element behind the subject on a woodden plane so as the pellet hit that plane it triggered the flash and with using that delay we were able to capture the action, the exploding egg.

Thanks a lot ! you are going to try this aswell ? kewl ! cant stand the wait to see results ! use the flash with the shortest flash duaration < 1/1000th or so .. coz when you do the math you would need 1/40000th sec to see the pellet in the picture .. and it would still be moving ! have fun!

Wow, that's crazy. Great concept, sounds almost more like a science experiment than a photo shoot, but I suppose it's a great combination of both.
Saying that, just looking at it makes my head hurt.
