but I can kind of get the message your saying, because there is always someone, fellow human or animal, that you wish would never leave your life, who would be there to comfort you and vice versa.

not 'in love' but want to spend the rest of your life together?? isn't that usually the quality that distinguishes just loving someone and being IN love with them?

I think you feel like you're not "in love" because so many people think in love is being swept of your feet in this grand, fairytale way. But real love is a best friend, a person you know you could have by your side for the rest of your life, your partner in crime.

I agree. There's a difference.
Being in love is just a hormone cocktail with butterflies in the stomach and such which stops being produced quite soon. After that, one suddenly really sees how the other one maybe is, and one'll maybe even not like what one sees now. Most relationships end after the hormones cool down. In germany we say Love makes blind, it's that sort of blindness of being in love.
Really loving someone is something much, much deeper. And relationships only work when the partners aren't only hormonemonsters but deep friends.
I really like this secret.
