Description
Not too sure how I feel about this. I kinda like it, kinda don't. I don't know what to do with the background, but with a glowing heart as the main light source, I decided to leave the background black...Wish I could come up with something more creative though.I've been trying to get more gooder by painting faces. These past couple of weeks, I've accumulated a lot of practice study paintings. Those type of studies where an artist either paints there own face, or another's face. However, they are way to rough and awful looking to see the light of day. I guess I am trying to find a style I like though, as I am not trying to capture any kind of realism in paintings I like to finish. Also, I am trying to find a better way of painting faster...I think I am failing. But, I find that if I lay down flat values of varying colors first, and then try blending them in, I am able to get things done relatively quickly...But it rather looks rough, so I'll spend a few more hours blending them in...Uhg...it's a nightmare.
I've knotice with some artist, that they don't over blend, and kinda leave things in a sorta imperfect state - but it looks really good. I think what really matters are the brush strokes, and not so much the blending. I think Loish's paintings (you can find her work on Deviant Art), is a good example of this. But, there are other artist like webang111 (you can find their work on Deviant Art as well) who (kinda? Maybe?) does the opposite thing of what Loish does? and it also looks really good. It seems to me like they have clear understanding of their craft and how to manipulate it to create amazing paintings.
Lately, I've been trying to get into that "limited brush stroke" mentality. I failed that ideal with this painting, but I started it months ago before I considered the idea. Hopefully next time I can take what I've learned and apply it in future paintings.
