Description A long week of no power helped create this piece. The pattern is "Lee's Surrender", from a very old book. This overshot blanket is done with mixed fiber weft and warp. Next trial will be sett closer--the floats are a bit wide for my liking. 3 repeats of the pattern, 40" wide, 110" long. Those with sharp eyes will find 3 warping errors!

I have always loved this pattern and would love to weave it myself. You've done a great job here! (And I refuse to look for the warping errors.)

Thanks! (you are very kind not to look for the errors...they are pretty glaring to me!) This pattern appears every now and then in weaving books--fairly standard overshot, nothing difficult about it, really. My next project is a tablecloth in linen using this pattern.

I have an Oliphant tartan sample in my portfolio that I leave there specifically as an object lesson in watching dye lots. The Oliphant (AKA Melville) tartan has a large green square, and while my green yarn was all the same "color," I had skeins from different dye lots, so there is a very obvious color change right in the middle of the square. We live and learn, at least, I hope we learn.

I do believe (for myself)that the "errors" I make are the best teachers, from which I learn the most...and very often are "happy accidents". I am perverse this way: I leave the errors in for interest, and try things whenever I am told "Do not do this"!
