After all this time,I thought it would be different.
That your contempt would have thinned,
And you would not need to make me feel insignificant.
After all this time,
I thought you might miss me.
That you might comfort and hold me,
Tell me I didn't have to be lonely.
After all this time,
I thought that you'd bite your tongue.
Realize your words are dark clouds,
That block out the light I need to grow from the sun.
After all this time,
I thought we could be friends.
But now that I have returned,
I see we were always fated to remain at opposite ends.
After all this time,
I thought my wounds would heal.
But really they have festered,
And now the pain is twice as real.
