Description Dear Holden,
Hope you're hanging tough,
I'm hoping to embolden you,
but gods I know lifes rough.

You know we aren't too different?
We see the world in different shades of grey,
We are lonely in big crowds
And have long since gone astray.
And Pheobe is a real gem,
I really had to say.
I used to have a best friend
And we'd be the same way.

You want to be the catcher,
Save the children before they fall,
But who have you got to save you?
You're the one standing on the cliff after all.

When you cross the street,
You get that feeling too.
The one where the shadows eat up your steps
And leave no trace of you.

We're both talking to people,
We know who can't reply.
But we keep talking anyway
So that their memory doesn't die.
That's part of what you mean
When you're the catcher in the rye.
Refresh your memories
And never say goodbye.

Oh Holden,
Let me hold you.
We both know we're broke,
From our ghosts we shall eschew.
On our tears we will not choke.

I will hold your hand,
I know it's what you need.
It's okay to be so broken
it's okay for hearts to bleed
