Description
She roamed and roamedlooking for a place to call her home.
One man, two men, three men, four!
Each leaving her emptier than before.
Her life a mess, tank of empty
life draining from her withering body.
Looking for the light at the end of the dark street
wishing upon wish for something more than body heat.
Hoping beyond hope for someone to love her
in sickness and health, forever after.
Acceptance and affection, she's never had
because everyone she's trusted treats her bad.

I am a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I see a lot of battered people, throw away people if you will. They believe they are worthless, but I see them as incredibly strong survivors. Who else could live through what they have lived through.
Your writing reveals that you either know what I am talking about from personal experience or shared experience.

Oh cool. I'm at uni studying psychology and applied mental health so can understand a bit better the reasons why I am/have been the way I am

Going to class will help you to understand, but the real insights come when you start trying to help those who trigger your traumatic stress memories.
