It has been said that music is the universal language that transcends boundaries and brings people together all over the world. Our challenge to you is to create a design for a T-Shirt that is inspired by music! Tune in, turn up the volume, and explore all the octaves. Designing never sounded so good!
- You come up with potential designs for our deviantART T-Shirts.
- Deviants vote on their favorite designs.
- Judges choose three designs from the highest-voted submissions.
- Artists of the winning submissions get cash and their designs printed on T-Shirts for all to see and buy!
Entries should display an original image or images that show music through art. Use notes, instruments, or musicians -- anything that shows what music means to you. For more inspiration on the deviantART Design Challenge, check out the Musically Inspired creative pack !
This time we’re trying something new. We will allow a two-week period for you to submit your designs before we open the voting. Voting will last for one week only! So don’t forget to submit your work and then remind your friends to vote starting July 6, 2012!
Three winners will be selected! Each winner receives $1,500 cash and 20 T-Shirts with their winning design! Plus, each of the winning designs will be sold in the deviantART shop.
You can vote! Just like the last Design Challenge, you still have a chance to make an impact and determine the future of deviantART’s designs without being a designer by voting. All throughout the Design Challenge keep an eye on the Music Category .
If you see a design that would make a great shirt, click “I Want This” on the deviation to cast your vote for the entry. Voting will officially open on July 6th, 2012, so check the category then to make your voice heard. View the entries right now !
Don’t worry. When the contest is over, deviantART will review the source of all entry data (including but not limited to username and IP data) for suspicious activity and remove fraudulent votes. Also, just because a design has the most votes doesn’t mean it automatically wins. Some designs are disqualified for not following the rules. The 100 qualifying designs receiving the most votes will move to the final judging round, where our panel of experts will pick three winners.

When you go to the art portfolio where the competition is, there is a setting bar at the top that you can choose from either most popular or newest entry's. I don't know if that's the concrete judges score, but it shows who is racking up the most votes. It says the competition isn't souly based on votes, but common sense would suggest the top 100 will be top number of votes that fit the description. I'm excited to see who they pick!

Only the amount of "Favourites" determine your place in the ranking of the "Most populars", not the amount of votes.

It's all one in the same bruh, If you can get 25,000 views you gonna get atleast 10,000 votes, and putting up those numbers you'll of course be the most popular. You'd have to be. I ain't really salty about the competition, more curious how people rack these numbers that they do

True, it is most likely based on votes, but if you read the terms and conditions, it says you cant use more than 5 colours (2 shades of the same colour count as 2 different colours) and then look at the entries, alot of them are automatically disqualified due to that one rule.

Most likely that is the case-regardless of how much we hope its not.
I hope the judges do take it into consideration to the fact that most of these have gotten their votes through a) cheating or b) their deviants which makes it really unfair on those who actually have a good design but fail to receive the votes.

This question is directed to Cyberlogic.I have submitted my design entrees to this contest three different times and each time they have been deleted.They would appear on the entry gallery for a day or two then would be deleted.I would like to know why?I may not have a chance at winning but I would have liked the chance to try.Please let me know.

I hope you don't mind me answering for Cyberlogic. The reason is they have to absolutely be on the templates they provided us.
For next contest:
If you have a printer or know someone who does print them out and draw on the templates that way and then either take a photograph or scan them back into the computer. Hope this helps.
Also if you have computer access but no money to get a program there are free programs you can use like GIMP found here [link] that works pretty well indeed.

Is there anyway to change the picture of my design even if the voting has already started? I just wanted to add a close up of the design so people could see what it was. It is kind of hard to see as a thumbnail currently.

Be careful editing your entry right now may count against you. Try and do what I did upload a bigger pic as a new deviation but don't let it become a print just close the page when the prints page comes up after making and submitting your image. You can then tell everyone where it is.
Asking dAG right now if we can change the text comments on our entries without it counting against us or our pictures themselves since it is not in the rules. I probably won't get an answer before the end of voting for this one but hopefully for the next one we will see until then just tell everyone where you can find it in a link here or in your journal and make a link to your entry within the artists comments of the bigger deviation.

You should be able to edit your design, leave everything as it is and change the resolution from the default 900 to whatever you want from the drop-down list!
The edit button is below the 'IWANT THIS' button and the resolution drop-down (Fullview Size) is just below the thumbnail of your image!
