It has been said that music is the universal language that transcends boundaries and brings people together all over the world. Our challenge to you is to create a design for a T-Shirt that is inspired by music! Tune in, turn up the volume, and explore all the octaves. Designing never sounded so good!
- You come up with potential designs for our deviantART T-Shirts.
- Deviants vote on their favorite designs.
- Judges choose three designs from the highest-voted submissions.
- Artists of the winning submissions get cash and their designs printed on T-Shirts for all to see and buy!
Entries should display an original image or images that show music through art. Use notes, instruments, or musicians -- anything that shows what music means to you. For more inspiration on the deviantART Design Challenge, check out the Musically Inspired creative pack !
This time we’re trying something new. We will allow a two-week period for you to submit your designs before we open the voting. Voting will last for one week only! So don’t forget to submit your work and then remind your friends to vote starting July 6, 2012!
Three winners will be selected! Each winner receives $1,500 cash and 20 T-Shirts with their winning design! Plus, each of the winning designs will be sold in the deviantART shop.
You can vote! Just like the last Design Challenge, you still have a chance to make an impact and determine the future of deviantART’s designs without being a designer by voting. All throughout the Design Challenge keep an eye on the Music Category .
If you see a design that would make a great shirt, click “I Want This” on the deviation to cast your vote for the entry. Voting will officially open on July 6th, 2012, so check the category then to make your voice heard. View the entries right now !
Don’t worry. When the contest is over, deviantART will review the source of all entry data (including but not limited to username and IP data) for suspicious activity and remove fraudulent votes. Also, just because a design has the most votes doesn’t mean it automatically wins. Some designs are disqualified for not following the rules. The 100 qualifying designs receiving the most votes will move to the final judging round, where our panel of experts will pick three winners.

Congrats to all of the tight ass designs in this contest! Usually online competitions have a lot of weak pieces in my opinion, but I have to admit the quality in a lot of these designs are phenomenal! For the last 4 days I have really been admiring people's work and the creativity that they put into their submissions.

Oh no they won't do that, kinda wish they would then we would know who did vote and who only said they did to get our votes. lol though that may cause some major problems with people it would cut back on the major spammers for sure and you would know for the next time. I have just had feedback on two designs saying they have voted, the design links in their comment signatures link to each other? Having discovered this I assume they have not actually voted and this is a ruse to get me to vote for them? If someone says they have voted there is a good chance they have not!

yep! I'd like to have my votes based on the actual judgement of my design. everyone should accept the fact that if your design is good enough you'll get votes, but in the end it all depends what the judges are looking for.. so there's no need to be "manipulative".

You are right, unfortunately were there is money involved some people will try every trick in the book. If you look in the comments of a random selection of entries you will see some the same characters giving their opinion or saying they have voted and can you look give comment or vote etc...
On a more positive note, nice design, looks good!

Yes, it shouldn't be about trading votes, only vote if you really like the design (like you said). I've also left a comment on some of the designs saying that they got my vote and why but only because I really can see me wearing their designs and they deserve it, also for the sake of being supportive and letting them know that, not because I want a vote back.

I also have said I have voted, on the odd occasion that is because I have been so impressed with the design, and yes, you are right it is hard not to say that you have voted.
The thing is, these statements are not aimed at everyone and it's a shame it has to be said at all, but the truth is these things are happening on a regular basis, I would like to think the dA admin were aware of this and were doing something about it.
These challenges were the participants are the voters can never work properly, it would be better not to have the option to comment, and only have the option to vote!

I have noticed that some deviants have more than one ID, Is this usual? This means they can vote more than once per design.

Is it ok to edit the image after you send it to the contest? Or do you get disqualified if you change the file to a newly edited version or to something else?

I've seen some people who wrote on their designs for the contest "this is the edited version". I think it is possible to edit it after you send it in. But I'm just not sure coz I haven't tried it personally.
