It has been said that music is the universal language that transcends boundaries and brings people together all over the world. Our challenge to you is to create a design for a T-Shirt that is inspired by music! Tune in, turn up the volume, and explore all the octaves. Designing never sounded so good!


Participation is easy!

  • You come up with potential designs for our deviantART T-Shirts.
  • Deviants vote on their favorite designs.
  • Judges choose three designs from the highest-voted submissions.
  • Artists of the winning submissions get cash and their designs printed on T-Shirts for all to see and buy!

Entries should display an original image or images that show music through art. Use notes, instruments, or musicians -- anything that shows what music means to you. For more inspiration on the deviantART Design Challenge, check out the Musically Inspired creative pack !


This time we’re trying something new. We will allow a two-week period for you to submit your designs before we open the voting. Voting will last for one week only! So don’t forget to submit your work and then remind your friends to vote starting July 6, 2012!

Three winners will be selected! Each winner receives $1,500 cash and 20 T-Shirts with their winning design! Plus, each of the winning designs will be sold in the deviantART shop.

You can vote! Just like the last Design Challenge, you still have a chance to make an impact and determine the future of deviantART’s designs without being a designer by voting. All throughout the Design Challenge keep an eye on the Music Category .

 Worried about cheaters?


Don’t worry. When the contest is over, deviantART will review the source of all entry data (including but not limited to username and IP data) for suspicious activity and remove fraudulent votes. Also, just because a design has the most votes doesn’t mean it automatically wins. Some designs are disqualified for not following the rules. The 100 qualifying designs receiving the most votes will move to the final judging round, where our panel of experts will pick three winners.

Been seeing a lot of respectable art come out of this contest. I really have been trying to analyze the perspective put into each individual's designs and write a critique on every piece. The W is important, but what would an art website and competition be without proper critique for one to better themselves in an artistic manner!

Personally I feel critiques are acceptable to those who request it. While voting is undergoing a critique is highly unacceptable and may cause damage to the voting process.

Positive feedback is OK! But giving positive feedback to every one will just be seen as spamming your own design.

Please don't see this as a personal attack it is just my view!

You have a solid point brotha and probably are right in a lot of instances. I didn't really look at critiquing as a way to sway people to vote, more or less trynna grow as an artist. I only vote for those designs I like and think are the best, and for no other reason.
