Description THE GENIE JAR

Hello one and all and welcome. If you are reading this then you are doubtlessly curious about the infamous GENIE JAR that is at the centre of a number of my commissions. Well you have come to the right place for answers. Think of this as a bio by question and read on to get answers to questions you thought or didn't think to ask and should you have additional questions fell free to ask in the comments section. Please enjoy.

Question 1: How was the jar made? Who made it?

Answer: A Genie Jar is crafted from mystical jade and some gold that has been alchemically enhanced and further enchanted and then shaped into a vase like vessel. The creation process is very long and arduous and one little mistake in its creation process can ruin it as even the smallest defects compromise its functions. As to who created it, that knowledge has been lost to the mists of time but it would have been someone with considerable knowledge of the arcane arts and Guardian Genies.

Question 2: What are the jars main powers/magic? Can it do other things?

Answer: The Genie Jar was created to imprison genies, or more specifically the Guardian Genies of Sequin Land. The jar completely immobilizes a captured genie, they can't move the slightest bit, and their powers are nullified i.e. they can't use their magic or other abilities they might possess. They can't move their bodies inside the jar as the inside of the jar will expand/grow and fit itself to the captives figure. The body, or some of its functions, go into a state of limbo so they don't get hungry and, thankfully, they don't need to go to the bathroom. They may need a drink of water though.

One of the more peculiar abilities of the jar is its ability to shape shift into differently shaped jars with a captive genie inside. The change can be as simple as say a longer neck or slimmer body to something more exotic or artistic. Naturally as the jar changes shape the captive genies body is magically changed as well. Magical physics are at work so despite what the stretching, contorting, squeezing and other impossible physical alterations may suggest the captive genie is not being injured nor is it in any pain. We also cannot rule out that Guardian Genies are able to shape shift or change into different forms naturally so this may also be a factor in the process. This doesn't mean the process is at all pleasant however. Having their body contorted and squeezed and neck stretched must feel peculiar despite the lack of pain and the process can stress and exhaust the captive if repeated shape shifts are demanded. This is because the jar uses the captives own magic to help fuel the shape shifting processes and too many shifts can drain the captives magic and leave them weak and exhausted.

The Genie Jar however has a very sneaky ability in its design. It can regulate and even replenish a captive genies mystical energies. This means that a captive genie may never run out of magic. While there is no practical purpose for the shape shifting ability aside from the humiliation of the captive and the possible amusement and entertainment of their captor, the ability of the jar to recharge and regulate the captives mystical energies has led to number of interesting theories. One states that the combination of genie and jar could be used as a sort of self recharging mystical battery if one could find a way to extract and process the captives mystical energy.

Arguably the Genie Jars most impressive feature is its nigh indestructible nature and nigh immunity to magical stimuli. Magic and spells have zero effect on it, nullified by the same alchemical enhancements and enchantments that render its captive totally helpless. The jar is also unaffected by strong impacts, extreme temperatures and other physical effects. From the intense heat of molten magma to falling from orbit, to high velocity armor piercing rounds to massive explosive forces, the Genie Jar wouldn't suffer so much as a microscopic nick and would, in all likelihood, keep its captive alive through the whole unpleasant experience.

Question 3: Is there more than one jar? Is it rare?

Answer: There were and still are numerous Genie Jars but they are still rare enough and thus hard to come by. No new Genie Jars have been created so all surviving examples, discovered or otherwise, are relics and the individuals in possession of one likely have no idea that it is a Genie Jar but merely a spectacular piece of pottery crafted from precious materials. This ignorance as to the jars true purpose can be attributed to the Guardian Genies of Sequin Land who took great pains to eliminate as much knowledge and information pertaining to the jars to prevent their creation and use in the future.

Question 4: Can anyone use a Genie Jar or is something special needed to use it?

Answer: Anyone can use a Genie Jar. To capture a genie you just have to get it within 2 meters of the jar and it will suck the genie in and trap it. Using its shape shifting ability is also simple. To use this one simply says what shape or alterations they want the jar to assume. One also cannot rule out accidental activations. There is one special condition that does apply to the Genie Jar. It will only work on Guardian Genies and their Half-genie descendants.

Question 5: Does the Genie Jar have a weakness, if so is it easy to use this weakness against it?

Answer: The Genie Jar is nigh indestructible but it does have one weakness. It can be broken by a Sparkle/Twinkle Hammer.

Question 6: Is there a way to free the captured genie and if so can anyone do it?

Answer: The only way to free a genie from a Genie Jar is to break the jar and to break the jar a Sparkle/Twinkle Hammer is needed. Using the hammer is easy, finding one is the tough part as just like Genie Jars they are rare and hard to come by and most knowledge pertaining to their use and creation has been lost.

Question 7: What is a Sparkle/Twinkle Hammer? How was it made? Who made it?

Answer: The Sparkle/Twinkle Hammer is a hammer crafted in a bygone era by beings of immeasurable power and knowledge. No one knows how these relics were made or how they are able to affect Genie Jars when nothing else will. All that is known is that they work and that they work only once.

Question. When your bio says that the genie jar is indestructible, is Shantae's head indestructible too? Cause her head is sticking out of the jar and Risky is about to fire her with a cannon.

Risky could take her head off if she wanted to so no Shantaes head is not indestructible. In fact if you read the description for the pic Cannoned Genie you'll note that Risky's not 100% sure Shantae'll survive. Obviously as she is sent ''literally'' screaming on her way, she survived the launch but as for the landing....you'll have to wait and see.

Would it be alright if I made a fanfic based off this idea sometime? I would make sure you get credit for the idea of course as well as linking to your gallery also.

You can use the genie jar concept for your own story if you like, but if you choose to do anything raunchy, perverted or otherwise tasteless then I won't be interested in reading it. Thank-you for remembering to give credit where credit is due.

Well just make sure that in addition to credit for the jar you mention that I don't endorse the story but merely gave permission for the use of the genie jar.

I love this concept.

Two questions:

Does the head always stick out or is the whole body eventually sucked into the jar?

Is the captured genie now forced to serve whoever has the jar and, if so, what can the genie be commanded to do?

The head always sticks out. As to your other question, that can be effectively answered in my Genie Jar bio, check it out in my gallery.

Ah I see...so it's more of a trapping device than an enslavement device. One more question...I'd the trapped genie is freed does the genie feel any compulsion to reward the rescuer?

Aside from being thankful and wanting to be friends? Not really. It's not like free the Genie, get a wish. Genies from Sequin Land in the Shantae games seem to differ from traditional Genies.

Cool. Well, I think is an awesome concept. Would love to some genies from other games or maybe TV shows stuck into genie jars.
