oh i remember hearing the have genders determined by their mouths being open or closed
though i hear 2 versions
. male has his mouth open to scare bad spirits while females welcome good ones with their mouths closed
. males have there mouths closed to greet spirits females have there mouths open to call spirits to come by and visitΒ
not TOO sure on that 2nd one but that 1st one i am certain on
