The expression on the models face and in the eyes really captivates my eye. Interesting idea.

The face reminds me of the people in that Marlyn Manson video "Mob Scene". The eyes are very impressive. They look like they are made of galss

I'm as mesmerized as she is, believe you me. Rather than scare me with the high contrast of the black and the white, I am reminded of a weathered stone statue, but softened by the look into those gorgeous eyes of yours. I have to agree with you in saying that along with Lust, this is a favorite. Then again, the entire series has pretty much got me gaping.

thank you b/c this is one of my favorites - this and Lust. i dodged the eyes (my eyes are brown) and they came out still looking realistic (which was what i was going for) but still more magical than brown
for my concept of the theater fantasy/romance, etc.
thanks so much for the encouragement - you have no idea how much it helps me grow!

it was fantastic to cover myself up in body paint. you should try it! i bet you'd love it. you can do your kids faces too. you feel like you have a real mask on - get brave and weird. very drama theater. i can't wait to do it again - next time with black and blue paint.

Such intensity in this series-- your eyes stare right thru me! Love the strong contrast in the black and white- I do wish the paint had extended to every part like your hair, ear etc-- to envelope everything in total whiteness but I know how paint can be Either way its wonderful!!

First.. thank you Mary... I am incredibly honored... The only reason my art is out there is to inspire the others... second... This one is my favorite so far in the series... I liked very mcuh how the star thingys looks like barbed wire creating a defense area around the heart... So meaningful... I also like very mcuh the casualness of the mask... It is just like a heart (not physically), not flawless but not flawed either... .....

this immediately caught my eye. i see a wonderful softness to this image, contrasted (of course) by the harsh heart-mask. like love is a gate...it can either let you in or keep you out like iron bars.

i enjoy how the side of the neck blends in with the background. it's almost as if she's in two worlds at once. and the heart on her face is the address.

All things cold and all things relentless in this world disturbs me. It's in these moments that I find truly sublimity, in what was once only mediocrity.

I agree with suzi9mm on this, a little more light to bring out the stars. What are stars if they don't shine?
Other than that Mary...perfect. And your focus on the eyes is astouding. So clear and detailed.
You ROCK!

Are you using just standard like halloween facepaint. Anyways its very cool and hopefully I'll be doing some like these in the next couple weeks. Love the heart shape.

actually i went to a costume shop in town and bought professional theater make up powder and this "setting spray" - but the black and white paints are halloween face paint or clown make up. the powder and spray really let it set and dry and let me pile it on so i could not crease it too much and still have it work.

It makes the image bi-dimensional and very intriguing.

... the angle and the way you look almost brought me to kiss the monitor seriously. I opened the FULL VIEW and switched to another picture meanwhile and when I came back and saw it in full view I turned my head and started to get closer ...
I know this sounds stupid & braincracked, but for a second I almost did it!
so,
thank you, mary! *needs a cigarette now*

this series continue to surprise me, the reflects in the eyes are amazing, I can see another world in them, a place where dreams can become true. a place where no lies can survive, a place where you can find peace and love, but it can also be a lonely place where you can freely cry your tears....
