when shooting the nude doll and the banana peel i was originally playing with the idea of the concept of "peel" -and then moved to imagery of the fallic symbolism of a banana balanced with the symbolism of a nude barbie doll.......then i was taken by the tones of the peel and the wooden table and her red hair and blond highlights and skin.....and then i started to see curves and shapes and really find sensuality in both objects -separate and together - this was one of my favorite poses - she seems to be having such a fine time with her banana peel....

i believe this creativity was inspired in me through the work of master photographer David La Chapelle (he has an image of blond nude barbies sunbathing ona beach of golden french fries) as well as master female photographer Cindy Sherman (who did lots of work, including some eroticism with mannequins)....

It is altogether rather cool. There seemed to be too much yellow, at first, but then I decided that I liked it. Made her legs stand out a bit more. I found myself more interested in the wood grain than the banana...

well i was working with the banana peel for "peel" concept of the group i work with on DA - then i started seeing the banana as sensual and all the freudian things that go on with women and bananas - then i loved the yellows of her skin, the peel, the light, the wood - and then it became erotic to me and yeah - strange but awesome eh?

wow, barbie *REALLY* likes bananas, hehe! I love both the photographers you mentioned! This reminds me more of Cindy, jsut because the first photo of hers I ever saw was this photo of two dolls having sex, but one was all burnt up. I found out about her from my art teacher.

I like this cropping but I think I would like to see too the whole of the subject,the doll from head to toe, maybe with hiding its face with its hair (cause the expression of the Barbie is not very sensual)... but, again, it's just me, i'm always begging for more
