Description don't let the wind blow away your mask dear..........

mary

********************
this image is all about the tension for me - the raincoat/umbrella against the gorgeous sunny day; the plastic person in the natural setting;

to say anything more will just ruin it for me - so i'll stop now

thanks to those of you that "get it"

Wow... I really love the meaning behind this! I definitely get it lol This reminds me of how I used to be a while ago. I think a lot of people can personally identify with this image. Anyways, you did a great job with both the image and the concept!

Sorry I haven't really been commenting on your work lately... I've just been really busy with things and lately I have less and less time for the internet. But I hope all is well with you and your family!

So many protective layers in this shot

I understand that and I have to ask if you feel at all vulnerable posting these? I know I start to.

I am very vulnerable posting any older images that are just for me. It seems like if I've posted some from teh same shoot previously- people ASSUMe they've "seen" the photo and don't even bother to really look at it. Either way - yeah - but I'm truly to the point of doing my work and structuring this gallery to be 100% for me and no one else.

Hey - I did POWER YOGA today - 3 days last week and my goal is to do it daily now. I'm on a Bryan Kwest's Advanced Level and once I master the poses w/ proper breathing in this one - I'll go to the third and more advanced one in the series.

Brian Kest he's quite erm.. motivating

I'm so proud of you it's time you spun the events to suit you instead of coming in on the short end all the time. This is the Mary I like, the one that takes control of her life

I'm looking forward to seeing more

I like him even better with short hair but in this video he's got super long curly hair I visit his website too for inspiration.

It does feel great to be where I want b/c again - if I love it I stick to it. Like I've never had a problem keeping up with my weekly weight work outs or my yoga ball ab workouts - b/c I enjoy them. Today I actually felt myself looking forward to work out time b/c I love the yoga so yea!

I find that the yoga also comes from such a loving place - that it bleeds into how I deal with food in a more positive way and well, just everything. The idea of "being nice to yourself" in a work out regime is a nice change.

i get it.
it kind of reminds me of hiking through the beautiful wilderness to find an old styrofoam cup or candy wrapper on the ground.

the setting and dualty (sp?) are just great...

(you've also done a good job on the framing as well)

Very creative and symbolic...especially for women...we try to hide our true Selves behind a mask...men do, also, but in a different way.

I like the contrasting tones and the lighting, adding drama to this beautiful capture of expression.

This reminds me of some of the horror movies that I used to watch in the 80s. They were frighteningly complex and so is this.

Same shot, different concept now. You've changed.

No- I never submitted this picture.

and how have I changed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeadThings In reply to devilicious [2005-05-21 09:51:32 +0000 UTC]

THat's why i said you "almost" submitted it. I meant it was from an older shoot.
You've changed because you're using photos from the same shoot but now it rings a different bell for you, you want to express slightly different things.
At the time it was critic towards society of plastic and shallow beauty,; now it expresses your own feeling of tesnion and duality. Ambivalence.

This is absolutely amazing. I feel like the word tension hardly grabs it... I mean the background and the foreground look like they might just rip apart. An amazing concept - as usual I get it.

I definitely "get it" - I think a better way to describe it is to say that I "feel it" - it's very powerful. And of course, well composed and you colours are beautiful!

the-little-deer [2005-05-20 13:28:35 +0000 UTC]

That mask really repulses me...it always has; but that doesn't mean I do not like the image. I think the colours are really nice in the scenery, and the concept is clever....yet I think I would like it a little better if the umbrella was only the wire skeleton without the plastic..Sort of like the subject is to preoccupied with protecting herself from the ideas and opinions of society to even realize that her protection from the elements is useless...even harmful. I do feel the tension that you speek of, my interpretation comes from seeing the image as a thumbnail first, and thinking the umbrella wasn't functional.

Wonderful..concept and image. Very imaginative..I like how she's holding her mask on, as if she's afraid of letting it reveal what's behind it..Nice job
