Description The dense, blackened tree's created a suffocating atmosphere, the dead overhanging branches threatened to ensnare passers-by, entombing them in the dismal place forever. Not even the eerie glowing orb floating high above the tree's could create any sense of hope for traveller's who found themselves unfortunate enough to be in such a dismal position.
If the tree's could move, they would have turned in surprise at the sight of a single figure running through the dense forest. black velvet cape billowing behind, catching on numerous twigs. Gasping for breath, she stumbled over a dead log, almost losing her footing and falling over. But luck was almost on her side. Regaining her balance before crashing to the floor, she pushed off again and leaped over the log in a single bound. But the jump was misjudged. This time the ground was triumphant as she crashed to it, cutting her arm. Desperately she dragged herself to her feet and ran faster than before, clutching her injured arm.
Behind her chants rose up, disturbing the still air.'kill her, kill her, kill her' flames rose up from peasant torches, licking hungrily at the brittle tree's, trying to get ahold of what could be a weighty prize. Melody ran on, desperate to get to her destination before they caught up, or worse. Bounding over a wide ditch, she glanced up momentarily, and fear gripped her heart. The sun was slowly rising from the black night, casting light over the lands. She choked back a sob of defeat, and ran faster, her life depended on it. Peasant sweat overwhelmed her scent glands, leaving her unable to locate Marius. Sharp fangs slid from her gums as helplessness washed over her, drowning. Her pale skin had started to prickle, the sun taking it's toll, slowly torturing. Suddenly jerked back, she fell harshly onto her knees, as a tight net enveloped her. Crying out and thrashing deperately, peasants surrounded her, jeering. 'MARIUS! keep her safe!!' She screeched, as burning torches were pressed to her skin.
