Description I have been working on this for a while now, it is a web browser based on Kubuntu and KDE. I made it using Gimp 2.6 and LibreOffice Impress for the demo (don't worry saved in PPTX format) and it is a complete concept right now and even the concept is incomplete but here are some things about it:
- It would use WebKit (pulled out of Chromium because it supports more html5 tags than Konq's)
- It would be intended for tablets and also available as a standard program for Windows 7 and older, Linux and Mac
- It is supposed to be stylish in a way that is kinda similar to Kubuntu - tell me if you agree!
Please have a look if you are interested in this sort of thing and also please tell me if you have any clue in programming (I don't) so that it could become real! (Don't care what platform for now, but maybe some time Win 8 ModernUI)

Fully support, although the name heavily suggests it would be Linux-only. A better name might be in order. Downloading now, I'll tell you what I think.

I see a heavy overuse of the gear graphic. It would help if you restrain the gear to just the logo, that would help. Putting it on the back and forward buttons makes it a bit cluttered, so simplifying those graphics would help a bit.

On the keyboard, the green and red icons look a bit ghetto, mainly due to their not matching the rest of the keyboard and going with a coloured glass appearance. Solid black graphics there to match the characters on the keyboard itself would work better and create unity.

The line underneath the "Menu" header on slide 6 should be swapped out for a cleaner divider instead of a gradient. At this point it reminds me of those cheesy educational games I played in elementary school.

I like the fonts. If there's anything I like about Ubuntu and it's derivatives, it's that Ubuntu font. As for the overall colour scheme, you could definitely consider the darker UI colour scheme that a lot of programs are shifting to, such as that of 3Ds Max 2012, Unity3D 4.0, Photoshop CS6, etc. The darker colour scheme is much easier on the eyes for people who use those programs, since a large portion of their time is spent looking at screens. Although a browser is more of a casual program than Photoshop, etc, it would help create a bit of continuity.

The inner shadow one many of the graphics are a nice touch, although I would definitely sharpen them a bit.

Hope that helps! Also, look at my upload from awhile back, it might give you some ideas for interface design. [link]

Enjoy!

Thanks for your comment, it's very helpful. I've just commented on your SteamOS concept too. The keyboard was taken from Kubuntu/KDE's on-screen keyboard but I didn't really think about modd'ing it at the start. I based the rest of the colour scheme on the Kubuntu logo (one from the boot screen) and I couldn't really think what to do for the back/f'ward buttons so I just did that instead. I might make the colours a bit darker, maybe it would look better. Are you getting this from IE10RT out of interest or do you just think black would look better generally? Anyway, thanks again.

Look up Photoshop CS5's UI and compare it to that of Photoshop CS6. Adobe changed it over to a darker UI scheme to go along with the growing trend. And sorry, what is "IE10RT"?

Also, back and forward buttons need to represent their functions more than look pretty. Simple arrows would do, no fancy graphics are necessary. DeviantArt has plenty of people creating icons and other resources for docks and web, but the graphics themselves can be re-purposed for anything. Although you'd need to pay attention to their terms of use, whether you can use them for commercial purposes and whether they'd want you to link back to their deviation page.

Internet Explorer 10 (metro) on Windows RT is what I meant by IE10RT. Plus I use GIMP not Photoshop so I dunno what it looks like (sorry). I might change the back buttons to a circular background of medium-gray (not as dark as click) and I'll try to make the layout darker too. Thanks for advice

Yeah, I don't use IE at all. It's a terrible all-round browser, and I haven't even touched RT yet.
