This is IT ! It took me 15 goddamn months but THIS IS IT ! My friends, my promise to you is FULFILLED ! Welcome to the final instalment of my JJBA project and personal passion challenge.

After Stone Ocean, there's only ONE direction, ONE way to go. There is no possible retreat. Once a threshold has been crossed, all I can do is search the one greater threshold.

Yeah, it was basically a revamp/revisiting of Phantom Blood. What happened? The good news is that humanity's free will is saved and the asshole who wanted to impose his version of " Brave New World" got skull squashed. The bad news... Many good people died for it and I really hate and love the fact that Jolyne and Jotaro died like Jonathan and Mary did.
Still,warts and all, Best part for me along with the 1st and 2nd ones ...
NOW, following this reasoning, it stands to reason that Stone Ocean deserves to get its own Battle Tendency ! We got through Jolyne saving Emporio an ending to the very first encounter we had with the Joestars, so we need an epilogue to the earliest prologue in the lore. And where do we find said Prologue ? Well, Kars' origin of course. The very first push of the domino in the whole story comes from a fae-like human-looking apex predator who more or less invented the cancer cure for his own people. And said non-human predator is the only sympathetic main villain in the whole series. It also stands to reason that I NEED me some proper endorphine after Part 6 !

The canon you ask ?
Get real. When people whine that the JORGE novel is not canon, they seem to forget that Araki gives less than half a fuck about canons or canonicity and NO FUCKS about his original universe. Dude is full-on "I had my say and show's over everyone. Lemme to my Vogue covers and bland-faced twinks". SO, as a reader I am full-on "ya heard the man ! So bring on writers that DO give a fuck about the original universe and let them work their magic ! My appetite for these wonderful characters cannot be quenched !". Plus, it's objectively an official commissioned product. Shueisha and Araki asked for it to be made. Make of that what you will.

The Internet dislikes it ?
The Internet can choke on jizz. All the awful and downright shitty hacks it praises and all the good and inspiring works it condemns never cease to baffle me. And I am the one called insane ? Fuck them. At least I give things a fair shot before passing judgement. I can also assure you that the RPGmonger's video on the subject is full of shit (no offense to him as a person, he seems rather nice) and spun by someone who not only missed the point of the book but describes it inaccurately.

What ? You expected Steel Ball Run? Respectfully, Fuck that noise. It really did not live up to the hype and I won't suffer through it another time to simply wish that the kid who shot Johnny aimed at the cerebellum instead of the lower region of his spine. Plus, once the nun and the raptor got the shaft I was beyond pissed...
Jojolion ? Yeah, I am so very very invested in blandface discount Gogeta whose most interesting feature are his 4 testicules (which we'll never see... so much for being a "mature" seinen...) and the fate that will befall the mediocrities and genetic errors that came out of Kato Higashikata's vagina.
The Jojolands... I cannot give a solitary fuck. Hell, the moment Araki shoved fucking Rohan AGAIN, I called it quits. And I hardly feel the need to justify myself to anyone.

Point is, what interests me in JoJo is dead and gone with the OG universe so why would I waste time with a reboot I find unpleasant and turgid to read when there's the option of following new characters worth investing time into OR old characters I already love.
See, though Jojo fan I am, this is not one of those blind moronic profiles or subreddits where Araki is worshipped. I believe in constructive criticism and will point out if there is a fuck-up. Hell, a friend of mine was kinda letdown by the series' habit to throw too much stuff out the window between parts when the lore it has around it is fascinating. And in that, I agree. Araki kept missing the forest for the trees, so did his editors (he'd have really benefited from a Yu Kondo or even Megumu Okada assisting and helping him being more consistent) and David Prod (yeah, the anime waited for Part 5 to make adaptational efforts and I personally would've traded a lot of canon filler for adaptational character development and consistency...).
That's why I find the whole "canon" attachment ridiculous; when the author forgets the stuff HE writes or completely misses the point on God knows how many opportunities and interesting underused characters, why should I ignore those who do a great job with world-building AND characterization ? Word Of God only matters when there IS good editing and consistent continuity.
IF you value canon over quality, have at you but I find such an approach utterly fucktarded, uninteresting and close-minded.

Eyes Of Heaven ? I think the writing team deserves to be bitchslapped. When fanfic writers pull off interactions for fun and actually exploit the lore properly, there's simply no fucking excuse for supposed professionals to go with the dumbest laziest lowest common denominator script there is (if you even can call that POS a script). Fans deserved much better.
And this where THIS novel comes into play. Sure, Maijo THRIVES on nigh-esoteric elements and his own brand of bizarre can hold the story back when directness would've fit better BUT he rolled the fucking dice and offered the only logical yet imaginative next step to JJBA.

Now let's kick off this making-of.
Since I already went into detail as to the pros and cons of JORGE as a novel, our essay here shall be more succint. Now in case you need a reminder www.deviantart.com/devilkais/a…

I had to reread the book (which was a pleasure) to get more details and crawl through the bowels of pixiv to get some perspective and drawn references (which was not such a pleasure since they're very scarce and there's plenty of Yaoi to skim through. Goddammit...). I also needed the ideal visual inspiration and kicker so the BASTARD!! openings provided me with the proper drive www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpcFgC… www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6yl3N… , the ONLY opening this novel ever got helped me focus www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm23474… and the Virgil memes gave me MOTIVATION.

I also took the liberty to seperate both sections of the novel into 2 distinct plotlines

Why ? Well, I already discussed the George II section on its and how it would work without Maijo's overall multiversal twist.

Turns out it would work wonderfully because as a JoJo, George II fucking RULES. How much ? So much that it's a fucking sin they're not giving him an animated mini-series.
Honestly, it's actually NOT hard to make an OVA about George II and Lisa Lisa's adventures and romance. Sure, the meta-narrative subtext of the book can get weird but it can really be left behind without much concern. AND the aerial fight scene with the zombie pilots HAS TO BE ANIMATED AT SOME POINT ! It was fucking DELICIOUS.

HOWEVER, I did adress a multiverse twist, right ? I do have my very own theory about it. My alternate reading if you will. If you see the Beyond as a fickle cold lovecraftian deity, it makes the whole thing easier to assess.
Ever since the 3rd chapter, some elements did not gel all that much ... and then, the 5th chapter drops one bomb so huge that it was clear this was not the Original Manga Timeline but a modified version of it ! A version that would give George II a chance to escape his fate. What if this change was not by itself set up and fated ?
MY THEORY ? MY crazy headcanon ? The George II section of the book occurs not in the OG manga's timeline BUT in the Ireneverse's timeline. Think about it. Ask yourself this one question : If Jolyne and Jotaro deserve a shot at happiness, why not George II ? Granted, Irene is A Jolyne but not THE Jolyne AND we're not told what occurs to the past of a timeline and how many different details would be spread throughout. Maybe that is why George II adopts the name Jorge in this Pucci-freed universe since multiversal resonances still have effects here and there.
Between the moment Littlefoot offed Judge Frollo... err I mean Emporio killed Pucci and his arrival in the Ireneverse a whole HISTORY MUST HAVE HAPPENED. I honestly believe it's THIS book's story that took place in that large interval making JORGE JOESTAR a stealth sequel to Stone Ocean and adding to the bittersweet nature of the story.

The JoJo from Universe 37 and glitch in the multiverse's matrix... He's awesome. In fact, some folks see him as their favorite JoJo (same for George II) and say that in all honesty.
And I totally get them. Me ? He's the only post-Jolyne JoJo I will ever like and acknowledge. The dude has smarm, humor, OCD and also manages to play straight man to the wackiness that is surrounding him. He's adopted Joestar ? Yeah and ? His heroism, intuition and honored feeling of belonging to the Joestar family (even though he does not explicitely admit it) work to his role as a protagonist but also as an implicit revision of Shizuka Joestar... that is if Shizuka was not treated as a pathetic plot device by Araki and was fleshed out deservedly.
For some reason I imagine Joji sounding like Michael J. Fox. Don't ask me how, it just fits.

There's this rumor that Joji is just Tsukumojuku Kato forcefully inserted in JJBA because Maijo is a big JDC fanboy ... EXCEPT that is complete horseshit. I know that simply because
a) The JDC references in JORGE are very apocryphal if not entirely superfluous. Hell, the eccentric detectives would not look out of place in JJBA proper and they really do not intrude in this narrative.
b) I managed to read the novel Tsukumojuku and it is pretty independent from JORGE JOESTAR. The only things that really seem common to both Maijo books are detectives and the somewhat eldritch/nightmarish atmosphere. While JORGE JOESTAR is honestly no more gruesome than JJBA, the Tsukumojuku novel is...errr.. you know what ? Let's sum it up musically www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJv89B…
Get the picture ? If someone is insane enough to adapt that book faithfully, well, kudos for risking jail I guess.
c) Personality-wise Tsukumojuku resembles Giorno more than anyone else ... Well, Giorno if you crank the creepy factor and unsettling intelligence to 11. I will concede that while he can put aside in George II's section (though I love the childhood friendship that develops between both and George pretty much crushing on him...), he's somewhat necessary for interacting with Joji to set the investigation in motion.

People claiming it's a shitpost are morons and those saying the JORGE original stands are too narratively convenient are either utter hypocrites OR wilfully ignorant.

00) Space Fighter Loop - Kevin MacLeod
Again, the even-numbered chapters needed something similar to the ASB themes for each arc and this tune follows that logic impeccably. Kinda illustrates how the reality/universal ripple this adventure causes ! Plus a JoJo goes to SPAAAAAAAAACE !

01) All Aces - Ira Newborn
The chill atmosphere of Nishi Akatsuki where the Joestars of Universe 37 live and overall leitmotif for Joji. I have been thinking of this theme for 15 months since this JoJo has some similarities with Ace Ventura, mostly the consumate methodical aspects and investigative abilities (the goofiness and outlandishness were taken by OG/U37 Joseph Joestar as most of you have guessed !).

02) Postcard From The Edge - Venom: Let There Be Carnage OST
“That…was not Dio Brando’s head.”
Thank goodness! Of course it wouldn’t be, stupid Lisa Lisa. I was about to yell at her when Mum spoke again.
“That was the head of my husband, Jonathan Joestar.”
For the first time in my life I was scared of my Mum.
We return to the OG verse... or rather the rewritten original verse. Thing is, this is really about the very last page of the 3rd chapter BUT it has the biggest clue as to the true nature of this novel and its actual chronology. People mock Erina in this book when in fact, once all is put in context, all of her actions make perfect sense. And yes, much as I said last time, one of Maijo's greatest feats is that he gave Erina and Lisa Lisa the presence they deserve and for that I could never be more grateful.

03) Chase - JJBA PART 4 OST
Universe 37 Morioh is ... AMAZING. No really. U37 Rohan Kishibe is actually awesome and leaves Araki's husbando version in the dust (plus I do declare he'd sound like Robert Crumb), the Nishimura bros are cool as hell (kudos to Fukashigi for having the greatest stand of all time, NYPD Blue !) and this universe has the one Hirose I genuinely like, Koji (and his deceptively strong as hell stand!). "Reimi" is very similar to the original personality-wise, but her true nature is the key of things to come ! And with Joji's help, the actually likable Morioh gang is after a much more competent Yoshikage Kira !

04) Fullmoon - Sonata Arctica
"The reason I had to kill Jonathan begins with you. When we were children, I just made a little pass at you, and Jonathan lost his damn mind, attacked me for no reason. That’s why I had to kill him. Jonathan was a good guy. If he’d never attacked me, we would have been real friends. Brothers. But you made sure that never happened. The reason Jonathan died was because you used him to get at me. YOU killed Jonathan Joestar."
The 5th chapter is even more of a clear cut reveal as to this universe having been re-written and how Dio will be handled. All I can say is that I sorely regret how Araki fucking wasted Dio post-Part 1 just to have him as a lazy Pokemon Gym Leader (and how the OVA really fixed him and most of Part 3). Maijo's treatment ? DIO IS FUCKING TERRIFYING AGAIN ! Maijo undertands that the best thing about Dio is his enimity with the Joestars and he goes full ham with it ! The way he tortures Erina during 3 days ? God, what a fucking asshole he is ! And to top it all off, the eldritch resonances do grant him The World much earlier and access to Jonathan's The Passion, which powers are also cranked up in this reality... so yeah, whereas Araki made the vampire a bland meme, Maijo brought him back fanged and fearsome.
Also, if one reads between the lines, you can guess how he survives in the OG timeline.
" If he swam down a few dozen meters, the sun could never reach him, and he was a vampire – obviously he could do that. But if he was in the box with me, all I had to do was open the lid, and the sun would pour in. "

05) Luthien's Lament - Eurielle
“I could have killed Dio Brando there and then. But I didn’t. When the night ended, I put Dio in the bottom compartment, and when a ship rescued us, I had them weigh the box down and sink it. This is my sin. I could not kill Dio. Even though I would have killed Jonathan if he’d been a monster. You see, I had hope... Not hope that Dio would regret his actions and become a better person. That man is incapable of such a thing.But as long as Dio is alive, then Jonathan’s body is too. Jonathan is not dead. And I did not want to lose the chance to get his body back. I believed that day would come, and I’ve been waiting here in the hope that it would.”
Nothing to add. I already liked Erina, but I fucking LOVE her in this book.

06) Barracuda - Heart
The Morioh gang and Joji see some weird shit happening in Morioh : Islands walking, mass hysteria and a few thousand people pouring gasoline on each other !
It's up to our friends to rescue civilians while riding flying dolphins (yeah, it's Muryotaisu's stand...and it rocks !). You know, with visuals and descriptions like these, I say to the artists in the JJBA community; shame on you. You have all these mindblowing events to depict and you put stock on shitty memes or reddit's dumbass assessment of this book ? For shame !

07) Not For Nothing - Otis McDonald
Once things calm down Joji is hired by Passione and finally gets his jobro, the cooler Narancia !

08) Tranz - Gorillaz
The boys are teleported via Tsukumojuku (who must be an angel or an eldritch being at this point) in the H.G. Wells where they meet Lt Enrico Pucci (who's waaaay less an asshole than OG Pucci), Sandman (who's waaaay better than SBR Sandman), Pocoloco (who finally found a fucking job) and their superior officer Funnier Valentine.

09) Arcadia - Kevin McLeod
The boys uncover a conspiracy In SPAAAAAACE ! Funnier aimed to be rid of his associates and would almost succeed if it were not for Narancia's "Double tap motherfucker !". Though they're not out of the woods yet because the mission was to retrieve HIM...

10) Avalon (Intense Symphonic Metal Cover) - FalKKonE
You knew who was coming back eh ?
“Joestar?” Kars said.“You’re a Jojo, too?”
Oops. Kars grinned at me. “Clearly there’s a lot you have to tell me before I eat you.”
Trying not to panic, I prayed that this conversation would last more than four hours.
“Ehhhhhhhhhh? But what about me!?” Narancia shouted.

As for restarting thinking, well 36 universal loops will do that. Yup, Joseph Bugs Bunnied his way against Kars 37 times, ain't that incredible ?!

11) Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
The spaceship slowed down, and Kars moved over to the pilot seat, stole Pucci’s headset and said “Lord Kars is ready to return. Is the party ready?”
Need I precise it ? Kars in this book is like this rockstar who's been absent for 3 decades and when he comes back, motherfucker SLAYS the scene ! And I am all for it !

12) Moonlight Sonata - E.S. Posthumus
“Meeting you and being your friend has been an honor. I’m proud of you, Jorge Joestar. The world to come is in your hands!”
THIS is the point where things diverge for George II and will prevent his upcoming demise in 1921... as the events are upholding 1 year earlier. And due to Tsukumojuku's help, he finds himself in Universe 37. The plot thickens !

13) Rebirth - Bastard OST
Funny gestured to the man beside him, a tall, muscular man brimming with power. I’d seen him before. In the photo Kars projected. The sinister man floating in the air above Cape Canaveral. The adopted son of the Joestar family, the one who’d botched a train robbery. Dio Brando.
“You may love me, Enrico Pucci,” Dio said. There was a crown of thorns around his head. Holes in the hands he held out. And his bare feet. When he saw this stigmata, Pucci wept.
Joji, Narancia, Kars, Pucci and Penelope encounter Funny Valentine (one that is somewhat similar to SBR's except less rapey) who guides them to the "Secret Emperor". Gee, who would that be ?

14) Bible Black - Heaven and Hell
Yup, Pucci accesses Made In Heaven due to Dio's blessings and all Hell Breaks loose ! Though again, this Pucci deifies Dio for much more sympathetic reasons (without knowing that said God is the reason his family got killed).

15) One Wish - Casper OST
George, meeting with Passione, investigates and discovers the truth about "Reimi"; she is revealed as Penelope de la Rosa's Stand, who manifested herself 36 Universes later after Penelope was distressed by George's disappearance ! Her mission now is to seek George II and return him home. Yup, "Cube House"/"Arrow Cross Home" is all kinds of busted when you think about it !

16) Gold Experience Requiem - Giogio's Bizarre Adventure Vento Aureo PS2 OST
"You don't get it. You aren't here to finish me off. I'll be finishing you. You're the one God has forsaken. This was always the plan, poor priest. If only you had never realized how you've been used, you might have been happy to the bitter end. But I am the son of a God who is both kind and cruel, and I must act accordingly. Father Pucci, my father never expected anything from you. He knew you would never be able to connect the loop. That was never possible for you, or for any version of you. He sent you on this path knowing that only too well – because you being on this path was part of his plan."
Here's another personal theory I have; Novel Giorno is established as having come from a former universe, I'd say he's the one who brought the arrows... I mean, Novel Giorno is clearly familiar with them but he's from neither the rewritten OG timeline nor the 37th universe. He's from one of the other 36 where Vento Aureo must've occurred differently during the Chariot Requiem section (considering his soul is fused with Diavolo's...) and much like Tsukumojuku & Antonio ended up accidentally in the 37th universe. Lost and alone, he'd be following some of Dio's orders and yet try rebuilding the Passione gang to rekindle with his own sanity.

17) Brother - Kodaline
Even now that made me want to try a little harder. I managed to push myself up on my elbow, just high enough to see that there was something Japanese written on the deck in blood. A dying message left by Giorno Giovanna. Dio couldn’t read it, but I knew hiragana well enough. ゆうき “Courage”, of course. He was telling me to be brave. Giorno Giovanna had sacrificed himself to save me. Shit! Shit! Shit! Because I didn’t have enough courage, he’d had to die! I couldn’t just manufacture narrative flow. If I wanted this Beyond to work for all of us, not just myself, I needed courage. I had to start being more proactive.
The annoying thing about Giorno in the entire JJBA franchise is this; Part V GioGio is all build-up but no pay-off (succeeding a mission is not an ending in and on itself when we don't see the effects. Even PHF does not dwell on his as a character sadly...), Part T GioGio has little build-up (the phone call to Joji and Kars unraveling the Joestars history in Universe 37 is all we have as a foreshadowing) but the pay-off with George II and DIO actually broke my heart.... cus the fact that he gave his life to save his half-brother is something Giorno Giovanna for all his ambition would totally do.

18) Mama Said Knock You Out (Undefeatable remix) - LL Cool J
"Heh heh. I need hardly point out that the clever little bastard is you, vampire.”
“My name is Dio Brando. Remember it well.”
“I’m not in the habit of naming food.”
Yes, DIO VS Kars happens. Yes it is friggin awesome and YES, now that Lisa Lisa joins the heroes they have to find a way to sabotage Dio. With Kars ? Well, the lesser of 2 evils is still the more convenient to steer in the less nefarious direction eh ?

19) America Fuck Yeah - Team America: World Police OST
Just so you know, any credit you'd give Eyes Of Heaven for using Funny Valentine as an ally comes from this novel. And yes this book does it much better than SBR and even has his grandson, The Funniest Valentine be part of this grand finale.

20) Let Me Carve Your Way - Guilty Gear Strive OST
“Mere moments ago I intended to take the sole chance I had of killing myself! But I came to understand! Why I ran across the back side of Mars for so long! And why, despite the stifling feelings boiling up inside, I am equally filled with joy! My flesh may not be able to die, but my life is as fragile as it was before, and can be snuffed out so easily! You, who are another ‘me’! You are not special! You share the same sadness I feel! But that is a treasure! Rejoice, ‘Kars’! You, too, can suffer!”
While it's true that JORGE JOESTAR is "Dancers At The End Of Time" compared to Stone Ocean's "Stormbringer", it is still shock full of moments that hit. And hit hard they do.

21) The Dark God Of Destruction - Bastard !! OST
After findind what the jig was with Yoshikage Kira, Kars uses him as his personal DeLorean in concert with "Made In Heaven Ultimate" to follow Dio through time and space. eah, Maijo decided to make the SBR McGuffin into something far compelling and I cannot thank him enough for it. I wonder if he's ever read Michael Moorcock's "Behold The Man" ?

22) Voodoo Kingdom - Soul'd Out
“Enrico Pucci failed me twice, but that only served to lead me to this moment. Everything is agreed upon. The third time’s the charm. The circle will be closed. Why? Because I am here.”
The final confrontation with Dio !
There are only a few changes I'd make to it. Most of it goes the same way except instead of scramming to Limbo, Dio gets eaten by Kars. The fact that Joji was the thorn in Dio's whole plan was pretty clever since there was a build-up and genuine team effort to reach this victory. Also, personal preference but I'd rather have it take place in the 2012 of the Ireneverse instead of the SBR one but, eh, can't win them all...

23) Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Rocketman OST
With Dio gone, the Joestars are free to enjoy their happy end.
Erina and Jonathan have a tearful reunion (though since this franchise loves biblical references, I like to think that Jonathan went back to the afterlife after the 3rd day. After all, Erina's time has yet to come and they will meet again).
Funny Valentine goes back to his universe, having realized that the secret to America's greatness is its people and not occult artifacts therefore becoming far more compelling than his SBR version.
Penelope decides to start her own life, marrying into the 37th universe Joestar family with Joji's father, Jonda Joestar. A year after that, they have a daughter, Joeko Joestar.
Using Kira again, Kars brings everyone back to their respective universe. I'd say the Light Dancer's words greatly affected him.
In the rewritten original universe, George II has been legally declared dead so he immigrates to America as a screenwriter using the pen name "Motorize Jump", waiting for Lisa Lisa to come back to him (Maijo, you sly devil you !).

24) Memories - KOF XIII OST [End of Part T]

We got through Jolyne saving Emporio an ending to the very first encounter we had with the Joestars, so we need an epilogue to the earliest prologue in the lore. And where do we find said Prologue ? Well, Kars' origin of course. The very first push of the domino in the whole story comes from a fae-like human-looking apex predator who more or less invented the cancer cure for his own people. And said non-human predator is the only sympathetic main villain in the whole series. It also stands to reason that I NEED me some proper endorphine after Part 6 !

The canon you ask ?
Get real. When people whine that the JORGE novel is not canon, they seem to forget that Araki gives less than half a fuck about canons or canonicity and NO FUCKS about his original universe. Dude is full-on "I had my say and show's over everyone. Lemme to my Vogue covers and bland-faced twinks". SO, as a reader I am full-on "ya heard the man ! So bring on writers that DO give a fuck about the original universe and let them work their magic ! My appetite for these wonderful characters cannot be quenched !". Plus, it's objectively an official commissioned product. Shueisha and Araki asked for it to be made. Make of that what you will.

The Internet dislikes it ?
The Internet can choke on jizz. All the awful and downright shitty hacks it praises and all the good and inspiring works it condemns never cease to baffle me. And I am the one called insane ? Fuck them. At least I give things a fair shot before passing judgement. I can also assure you that the RPGmonger's video on the subject is full of shit (no offense to him as a person, he seems rather nice) and spun by someone who not only missed the point of the book but describes it inaccurately.

What ? You expected Steel Ball Run? Respectfully, Fuck that noise. It really did not live up to the hype and I won't suffer through it another time to simply wish that the kid who shot Johnny aimed at the cerebellum instead of the lower region of his spine. Plus, once the nun and the raptor got the shaft I was beyond pissed...
Jojolion ? Yeah, I am so very very invested in blandface discount Gogeta whose most interesting feature are his 4 testicules (which we'll never see... so much for being a "mature" seinen...) and the fate that will befall the mediocrities and genetic errors that came out of Kato Higashikata's vagina.
The Jojolands... I cannot give a solitary fuck. Hell, the moment Araki shoved fucking Rohan AGAIN, I called it quits. And I hardly feel the need to justify myself to anyone.

Point is, what interests me in JoJo is dead and gone with the OG universe so why would I waste time with a reboot I find unpleasant and turgid to read when there's the option of following new characters worth investing time into OR old characters I already love.
See, though Jojo fan I am, this is not one of those blind moronic profiles or subreddits where Araki is worshipped. I believe in constructive criticism and will point out if there is a fuck-up. Hell, a friend of mine was kinda letdown by the series' habit to throw too much stuff out the window between parts when the lore it has around it is fascinating. And in that, I agree. Araki kept missing the forest for the trees, so did his editors (he'd have really benefited from a Yu Kondo or even Megumu Okada assisting and helping him being more consistent) and David Prod (yeah, the anime waited for Part 5 to make adaptational efforts and I personally would've traded a lot of canon filler for adaptational character development and consistency...).
That's why I find the whole "canon" attachment ridiculous; when the author forgets the stuff HE writes or completely misses the point on God knows how many opportunities and interesting underused characters, why should I ignore those who do a great job with world-building AND characterization ? Word Of God only matters when there IS good editing and consistent continuity.
IF you value canon over quality, have at you but I find such an approach utterly fucktarded, uninteresting and close-minded.

Eyes Of Heaven ? I think the writing team deserves to be bitchslapped. When fanfic writers pull off interactions for fun and actually exploit the lore properly, there's simply no fucking excuse for supposed professionals to go with the dumbest laziest lowest common denominator script there is (if you even can call that POS a script). Fans deserved much better.
And this where THIS novel comes into play. Sure, Maijo THRIVES on nigh-esoteric elements and his own brand of bizarre can hold the story back when directness would've fit better BUT he rolled the fucking dice and offered the only logical yet imaginative next step to JJBA.

I had to reread the book (which was a pleasure) to get more details and crawl through the bowels of pixiv to get some perspective and drawn references (which was not such a pleasure since they're very scarce and there's plenty of Yaoi to skim through. Goddammit...). I also took the liberty to seperate both sections of the novel into 2 distinct plotlines

Why ? Well, I already discussed the George II section on its and how it would work without Maijo's overall multiversal twist.

Turns out it would work wonderfully because as a JoJo, George II fucking RULES. How much ? So much that it's a fucking sin they're not giving him an animated mini-series.
Honestly, it's actually NOT hard to make an OVA about George II and Lisa Lisa's adventures and romance. Sure, the meta-narrative subtext of the book can get weird but it can really be left behind without much concern. AND the aerial fight scene with the zombie pilots HAS TO BE ANIMATED AT SOME POINT ! It was fucking DELICIOUS.

HOWEVER, I did adress a multiverse twist, right ? I do have my very own theory about it. My alternate reading if you will. If you see the Beyond as a fickle cold lovecraftian deity, it makes the whole thing easier to assess.
Ever since the 3rd chapter, some elements did not gel all that much ... and then, the 5th chapter drops one bomb so huge that it was clear this was not the Original Manga Timeline but a modified version of it ! A version that would give George II a chance to escape his fate. What if this change was not by itself set up and fated ?
MY THEORY ? MY crazy headcanon ? The George II section of the book occurs not in the OG manga's timeline BUT in the Ireneverse's timeline. Think about it. Ask yourself this one question : If Jolyne and Jotaro deserve a shot at happiness, why not George II ? Granted, Irene is A Jolyne but not THE Jolyne AND we're not told what occurs to the past of a timeline and how many different details would be spread throughout. Maybe that is why George II adopts the name Jorge in this Pucci-freed universe since multiversal resonances still have effects here and there.
Between the moment Littlefoot offed Judge Frollo... err I mean Emporio killed Pucci and his arrival in the Ireneverse a whole HISTORY MUST HAVE HAPPENED. I honestly believe it's THIS book's story that took place in that large interval making JORGE JOESTAR a stealth sequel to Stone Ocean and adding to the bittersweet nature of the story.

The JoJo from Universe 37 and glitch in the multiverse's matrix... He's awesome. In fact, some folks see him as their favorite JoJo (same for George II) and say that in all honesty.
And I totally get them. Me ? He's the only post-Jolyne JoJo I will ever like and acknowledge. The dude has smarm, humor, OCD and also manages to play straight man to the wackiness that is surrounding him. He's adopted Joestar ? Yeah and ? His heroism, intuition and honored feeling of belonging to the Joestar family (even though he does not explicitely admit it) work to his role as a protagonist but also as an implicit revision of Shizuka Joestar... that is if Shizuka was not treated as a pathetic plot device by Araki and was fleshed out deservedly.
For some reason I imagine Joji sounding like Michael J. Fox. Don't ask me how, it just fits.

There's this rumor that Joji is just Tsukumojuku Kato forcefully inserted in JJBA because Maijo is a big JDC fanboy ... EXCEPT that is complete horseshit. I know that simply because
a) The JDC references in JORGE are very apocryphal if not entirely superfluous. Hell, the eccentric detectives would not look out of place in JJBA proper and they really do not intrude in this narrative.
b) I managed to read the novel Tsukumojuku and it is pretty independent from JORGE JOESTAR. The only things that really seem common to both Maijo books are detectives and the somewhat eldritch/nightmarish atmosphere. Get the picture ? If someone is insane enough to adapt that book faithfully, well, kudos for risking jail I guess.
c) Personality-wise Tsukumojuku resembles Giorno more than anyone else ... Well, Giorno if you crank the creepy factor and unsettling intelligence to 11. I will concede that while he can put aside in George II's section (though I love the childhood friendship that develops between both and George pretty much crushing on him...), he's somewhat necessary for interacting with Joji to set the investigation in motion.

Again, the even-numbered chapters needed something similar to the ASB themes for each arc and this tune follows that logic impeccably. Kinda illustrates how the reality/universal ripple this adventure causes ! Plus a JoJo goes to SPAAAAAAAAACE !

01) All Aces - Ira Newborn
The chill atmosphere of Nishi Akatsuki where the Joestars of Universe 37 live and overall leitmotif for Joji. I have been thinking of this theme for 15 months since this JoJo has some similarities with Ace Ventura, mostly the consumate methodical aspects and investigative abilities (the goofiness and outlandishness were taken by OG/U37 Joseph Joestar as most of you have guessed !).

02) Postcard From The Edge - Venom: Let There Be Carnage OST
“That…was not Dio Brando’s head.”
Thank goodness! Of course it wouldn’t be, stupid Lisa Lisa. I was about to yell at her when Mum spoke again.
“That was the head of my husband, Jonathan Joestar.”
For the first time in my life I was scared of my Mum.
We return to the OG verse... or rather the rewritten original verse. Thing is, this is really about the very last page of the 3rd chapter BUT it has the biggest clue as to the true nature of this novel and its actual chronology. People mock Erina in this book when in fact, once all is put in context, all of her actions make perfect sense. And yes, much as I said last time, one of Maijo's greatest feats is that he gave Erina and Lisa Lisa the presence they deserve and for that I could never be more grateful.

03) Chase - JJBA PART 4 OST
Universe 37 Morioh is ... AMAZING. No really. U37 Rohan Kishibe is actually awesome and leaves Araki's husbando version in the dust (plus I do declare he'd sound like Robert Crumb), the Nishimura bros are cool as hell (kudos to Fukashigi for having the greatest stand of all time, NYPD Blue !) and this universe has the one Hirose I genuinely like, Koji (and his deceptively strong as hell stand!). "Reimi" is very similar to the original personality-wise, but her true nature is the key of things to come ! And with Joji's help, the actually likable Morioh gang is after a much more competent Yoshikage Kira !

04) Fullmoon - Sonata Arctica
"The reason I had to kill Jonathan begins with you. When we were children, I just made a little pass at you, and Jonathan lost his damn mind, attacked me for no reason. That’s why I had to kill him. Jonathan was a good guy. If he’d never attacked me, we would have been real friends. Brothers. But you made sure that never happened. The reason Jonathan died was because you used him to get at me. YOU killed Jonathan Joestar."
The 5th chapter is even more of a clear cut reveal as to this universe having been re-written and how Dio will be handled. All I can say is that I sorely regret how Araki fucking wasted Dio post-Part 1 just to have him as a lazy Pokemon Gym Leader (and how the OVA really fixed him and most of Part 3). Maijo's treatment ? DIO IS FUCKING TERRIFYING AGAIN ! Maijo undertands that the best thing about Dio is his enimity with the Joestars and he goes full ham with it ! The way he tortures Erina during 3 days ? God, what a fucking asshole he is ! And to top it all off, the eldritch resonances do grant him The World much earlier and access to Jonathan's The Passion, which powers are also cranked up in this reality... so yeah, whereas Araki made the vampire a bland meme, Maijo brought him back fanged and fearsome.
Also, if one reads between the lines, you can guess how he survives in the OG timeline.
" If he swam down a few dozen meters, the sun could never reach him, and he was a vampire – obviously he could do that. But if he was in the box with me, all I had to do was open the lid, and the sun would pour in. "

05) Luthien's Lament - Eurielle
“I could have killed Dio Brando there and then. But I didn’t. When the night ended, I put Dio in the bottom compartment, and when a ship rescued us, I had them weigh the box down and sink it. This is my sin. I could not kill Dio. Even though I would have killed Jonathan if he’d been a monster. You see, I had hope... Not hope that Dio would regret his actions and become a better person. That man is incapable of such a thing.But as long as Dio is alive, then Jonathan’s body is too. Jonathan is not dead. And I did not want to lose the chance to get his body back. I believed that day would come, and I’ve been waiting here in the hope that it would.”
Nothing to add. I already liked Erina, but I fucking LOVE her in this book.

06) Barracuda - Heart
The Morioh gang and Joji see some weird shit happening in Morioh : Islands walking, mass hysteria and a few thousand people pouring gasoline on each other !
It's up to our friends to rescue civilians while riding flying dolphins (yeah, it's Muryotaisu's stand...and it rocks !). You know, with visuals and descriptions like these, I say to the artists in the JJBA community; shame on you. You have all these mindblowing events to depict and you put stock on shitty memes or reddit's dumbass assessment of this book ? For shame !

07) Not For Nothing - Otis McDonald
Once things calm down Joji is hired by Passione and finally gets his jobro, the cooler Narancia !

08) Tranz - Gorillaz
The boys are teleported via Tsukumojuku (who must be an angel or an eldritch being at this point) in the H.G. Wells where they meet Lt Enrico Pucci (who's waaaay less an asshole than OG Pucci), Sandman (who's waaaay better than SBR Sandman), Pocoloco (who finally found a fucking job) and their superior officer Funnier Valentine.

09) Arcadia - Kevin McLeod
The boys uncover a conspiracy In SPAAAAAACE ! Funnier aimed to be rid of his associates and would almost succeed if it were not for Narancia's "Double tap motherfucker !". Though they're not out of the woods yet because the mission was to retrieve HIM...

10) Avalon (Intense Symphonic Metal Cover) - FalKKonE
You knew who was coming back eh ?
“Joestar?” Kars said.“You’re a Jojo, too?”
Oops. Kars grinned at me. “Clearly there’s a lot you have to tell me before I eat you.”
Trying not to panic, I prayed that this conversation would last more than four hours.

As for restarting thinking, well 36 universal loops will do that. Yup, Joseph Bugs Bunnied his way against Kars 37 times, ain't that incredible ?!

11) Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
The spaceship slowed down, and Kars moved over to the pilot seat, stole Pucci’s headset and said “Lord Kars is ready to return. Is the party ready?”
Need I precise it ? Kars in this book is like this rockstar who's been absent for 3 decades and when he comes back, motherfucker SLAYS the scene ! And I am all for it !

12) Moonlight Sonata - E.S. Posthumus
“Meeting you and being your friend has been an honor. I’m proud of you, Jorge Joestar. The world to come is in your hands!”
THIS is the point where things diverge for George II and will prevent his upcoming demise in 1921... as the events are upholding 1 year earlier. And due to Tsukumojuku's help, he finds himself in Universe 37. The plot thickens !

13) Rebirth - Bastard OST
Funny gestured to the man beside him, a tall, muscular man brimming with power. I’d seen him before. In the photo Kars projected. The sinister man floating in the air above Cape Canaveral. The adopted son of the Joestar family, the one who’d botched a train robbery. Dio Brando.
“You may love me, Enrico Pucci,” Dio said. There was a crown of thorns around his head. Holes in the hands he held out. And his bare feet. When he saw this stigmata, Pucci wept.
Joji, Narancia, Kars, Pucci and Penelope encounter Funny Valentine (one that is somewhat similar to SBR's except less rapey) who guides them to the "Secret Emperor". Gee, who would that be ?

14) Bible Black - Heaven and Hell
Yup, Pucci accesses Made In Heaven due to Dio's blessings and all Hell Breaks loose ! Though again, this Pucci deifies Dio for much more sympathetic reasons (without knowing that said God is the reason his family got killed).

15) One Wish - Casper OST
George, meeting with Passione, investigates and discovers the truth about "Reimi"; she is revealed as Penelope de la Rosa's Stand, who manifested herself 36 Universes later after Penelope was distressed by George's disappearance ! Her mission now is to seek George II and return him home. Yup, "Cube House"/"Arrow Cross Home" is all kinds of busted when you think about it !

16) Gold Experience Requiem - Giogio's Bizarre Adventure Vento Aureo PS2 OST
"You don't get it. You aren't here to finish me off. I'll be finishing you. You're the one God has forsaken. This was always the plan, poor priest. If only you had never realized how you've been used, you might have been happy to the bitter end. But I am the son of a God who is both kind and cruel, and I must act accordingly. Father Pucci, my father never expected anything from you. He knew you would never be able to connect the loop. That was never possible for you, or for any version of you. He sent you on this path knowing that only too well – because you being on this path was part of his plan."
Here's another personal theory I have; Novel Giorno is established as having come from a former universe, I'd say he's the one who brought the arrows... I mean, Novel Giorno is clearly familiar with them but he's from neither the rewritten OG timeline nor the 37th universe. He's from one of the other 36 where Vento Aureo must've occurred differently during the Chariot Requiem section (considering his soul is fused with Diavolo's...) and much like Tsukumojuku & Antonio ended up accidentally in the 37th universe. Lost and alone, he'd be following some of Dio's orders and yet try rebuilding the Passione gang to rekindle with his own sanity.

17) Brother - Kodaline
Even now that made me want to try a little harder. I managed to push myself up on my elbow, just high enough to see that there was something Japanese written on the deck in blood. A dying message left by Giorno Giovanna. Dio couldn’t read it, but I knew hiragana well enough. ゆうき “Courage”, of course. He was telling me to be brave. Giorno Giovanna had sacrificed himself to save me. Shit! Shit! Shit! Because I didn’t have enough courage, he’d had to die! I couldn’t just manufacture narrative flow. If I wanted this Beyond to work for all of us, not just myself, I needed courage. I had to start being more proactive.
The annoying thing about Giorno in the entire JJBA franchise is this; Part V GioGio is all build-up but no pay-off (succeeding a mission is not an ending in and on itself when we don't see the effects. Even PHF does not dwell on his as a character sadly...), Part T GioGio has little build-up (the phone call to Joji and Kars unraveling the Joestars history in Universe 37 is all we have as a foreshadowing) but the pay-off with George II and DIO actually broke my heart.... cus the fact that he gave his life to save his half-brother is something Giorno Giovanna for all his ambition would totally do.

18) Mama Said Knock You Out (Undefeatable remix) - LL Cool J

“My name is Dio Brando. Remember it well.”
“I’m not in the habit of naming food.”
Yes, DIO VS Kars happens. Yes it is friggin awesome and YES, now that Lisa Lisa joins the heroes they have to find a way to sabotage Dio. With Kars ? Well, the lesser of 2 evils is still the more convenient to steer in the less nefarious direction eh ?

19) America Fuck Yeah - Team America: World Police OST
Just so you know, any credit you'd give Eyes Of Heaven for using Funny Valentine as an ally comes from this novel. And yes this book does it much better than SBR and even has his grandson, The Funniest Valentine be part of this grand finale.

20) Let Me Carve Your Way - Guilty Gear Strive OST
“Mere moments ago I intended to take the sole chance I had of killing myself! But I came to understand! Why I ran across the back side of Mars for so long! And why, despite the stifling feelings boiling up inside, I am equally filled with joy! My flesh may not be able to die, but my life is as fragile as it was before, and can be snuffed out so easily! You, who are another ‘me’! You are not special! You share the same sadness I feel! But that is a treasure! Rejoice, ‘Kars’! You, too, can suffer!”
While it's true that JORGE JOESTAR is "Dancers At The End Of Time" compared to Stone Ocean's "Stormbringer", it is still shock full of moments that hit. And hit hard they do.

21) The Dark God Of Destruction - Bastard !! OST
After findind what the jig was with Yoshikage Kira, Kars uses him as his personal DeLorean in concert with "Made In Heaven Ultimate" to follow Dio through time and space. eah, Maijo decided to make the SBR McGuffin into something far compelling and I cannot thank him enough for it. I wonder if he's ever read Michael Moorcock's "Behold The Man" ?

22) Voodoo Kingdom - Soul'd Out
“Enrico Pucci failed me twice, but that only served to lead me to this moment. Everything is agreed upon. The third time’s the charm. The circle will be closed. Why? Because I am here.”
The final confrontation with Dio !
There are only a few changes I'd make to it. Most of it goes the same way except instead of scramming to Limbo, Dio gets eaten by Kars. The fact that Joji was the thorn in Dio's whole plan was pretty clever since there was a build-up and genuine team effort to reach this victory. Also, personal preference but I'd rather have it take place in the 2012 of the Ireneverse instead of the SBR one but, eh, can't win them all...

23) Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Rocketman OST
With Dio gone, the Joestars are free to enjoy their happy end.
Erina and Jonathan have a tearful reunion (though since this franchise loves biblical references, I like to think that Jonathan went back to the afterlife after the 3rd day. After all, Erina's time has yet to come and they will meet again).
Funny Valentine goes back to his universe, having realized that the secret to America's greatness is its people and not occult artifacts therefore becoming far more compelling than his SBR version.
Penelope decides to start her own life, marrying into the 37th universe Joestar family with Joji's father, Jonda Joestar. A year after that, they have a daughter, Joeko Joestar.
Using Kira again, Kars brings everyone back to their respective universe. I'd say the Light Dancer's words greatly affected him.
In the rewritten original universe, George II has been legally declared dead so he immigrates to America as a screenwriter using the pen name "Motorize Jump", waiting for Lisa Lisa to come back to him (Maijo, you sly devil you !).

24) Memories - KOF XIII OST [End of Part T]
