I just had to revisit the ones in my possession and YES, I now have a top 3 Hellraiser movies ranking...
* The Original, because it explores the crux of Barker's novella though more framed from Kirsty's POV. And yeah the cenobites are far more ruthless in the movie than they are in the book. They don't even make deals in the movie, the Hell Priest said "MAYBE" they will spare Kirsty after getting Frank back but he never promised anything.
* The 4th movie which is unfairly dismissed despite having Doug Bradley setting the screen on fire ! I love its mood , I love the whole Toymaker legacy of grief and I love the whole occult vibe it has. Excellent and without a single dead moment is what I call it.
* This remake. Just fantastic. It takes the concept and does its own thing. These cenobites are less ruthless than the past movie iteration (barring Hellbound) but nowhere near as chill as the book ones. It's simple; you're marked by the box's blade, you're basically fucked. Jamie Clayton does her own thing as the priest and again, I couldn't be more grateful for it.

Now with all that said , I shall leave you with this important lesson:
"There is no retreat. Once a threshold has been crossed, all you can do is search for greater thresholds."
I intend to use this somewhere else...
Also, WHEN WILL WE GET A PROPER RAWHEAD REX MOVIE ?!
