You know, it's quite fitting that a series starting with king Douchebag Of Mount Shithead as main antagonist ends with an individual that is honestly every bit as wretched, horrid and vile but in a different fashion.

As it is pretty much a tradition for the series, Enrico Pucci IS just as great a villain as his 4 predecessors. Except that only he and Dio genuinely dive fully in "love to hate" category. The 3 others I could not feel anger at as they were too loveable despite their misdeeds. Yes, Kars is a mad scientist BUT ironically, despite being the sole non-human in the list, he strikes me as the most sympathetic and never felt pointlessly destructive despite his ruthlessness. Yoshikage Kira IS an irredeemable prick and paraphiliac BUT at the same time, I relate too much on some aspects to be genuinely revulsed by him (and I cannot thank him enough for killing Shigechi...). Diavolo/Doppio is cruel, BUT I view him in the same light view as Two-Face and The Ventriloquist, plus I'll never forget how surprisingly hilarious he turned out to be the first time I've read Part 5. Even Dio has a catharsis factor to him as well a morbid sense of humor ...
Father Pucci is THE one villain I just could not find funny or even pleasant. Sure, there are eccentricities here and there (like the numbers and cherries), but they're more a prelude to him doing something horrible the next page/scene. It IS to his merit within the series and for the curtain closure. This son of a bitch gives David Xanatos and Lex Luthor a run for their money in terms of scheming and blind luck ! It's fascinating how he is the exact middle ground of crafty and intelligent AND an inconsiderate moron.
For the crafty part, he decided to have Jolyne in jail to lure out Jotaro AND get the Stand and Memory discs. HE KNOWS full well that facing Jotaro directly is suicide so bitch moves and sneakiness are the ways to go (why do you think White Snake has a shit-eating grin here as well as a nasty attitude in general ? It IS the embodiment of his user's soul !). He is imaginative and versatile enough to turn a situation to his advantage and when it's not enough, the fucker has Gladstone Gander's level of luck to have things go his way. Pucci also exploits whoever the fuck he wants to further his goals, as he is indeed the proper heir to Dio Brando (much like how Jolyne is genuinely Jonathan's heir in more ways than one...).
As for the "Pucci is a moron" part... this comes from my personal belief that zealots have, no matter the faith, a considerable side of idiocy to guide their actions. Pucci screwed up big time by NOT spilling the beans to his sister and condemning Wes (KILLER PLAN, Enrico ! You made your brother a living wraith ! Even Dio could not pull that one of !) then sending him to jail. Afterwards, Pucci sought Dio's advice, trapping some JoJo fans under the delusion that Dio's an anti-villain worthy of sympathy because of the whole "going to Heaven" plan. Except that:
a) Dio's a fucking sect guru. And a VAMPIRE GURU AT THAT. Dio's heaven is basically Salem's Lot on a global scale ! People will either serve him as agents or snacks...
b) Pucci's a deluded fuck. HIS idea of heaven is one where everybody knows their fates... THAT WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC LIKE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE. It'd be a world of complete order and a single state. People would basically be drones at best, vegetables at worst. I mean, the one dude we saw capable of some amount of prediction in the series did not exactly seem the best portrait of mental health, now did he ? The plan is about as sound as David Haller's !
Thankfully, he fell right on his fucking teeth 5 steps before the finish line...part of me imagine the Joestars of yore dragging his soul to hell, kicking and screaming, Children of the Damned style for daring to antagonize their bloodline.
