Description Beautiful ... Yeeeessss.... He is beautiful ! I do believe the version in the 1942 movie is pitch perfect as our literary ophidian here. Especially the voice...

Well I don't. Quite the opposite, he's a childhood hero if mine.

How did you stand doing every scale on this, holy shit?! Also, he looks very realistic, like an actual python. I've always thought it a shame that he always got represented as a bad guy in the movies when he was Mowgli's friend in the books...

Inking them the second time around is indeed tiring. Though I would not call Disney's Kaa a villain, considering how annoying THAT Mowgli is...

He sounds so menacing yet wise in the 1942 version.Oh boy, I do hope no one ever gives him a sexy female voice. Or do I ?

Judging how bland the "sexy voice" was, I honestly don't... then again I never understood the whole gender bender on a whim...

I guess that's the special talent of Scarlet Johansson, even when she does voice work she still is flatter than a board. Though in the new one Kaa is voiced byΒ Cate Blanchett, so maybe she'll do a better job.Β

That's why she's effective in this little number Soul In the Package...Β

oh and the spirit. You know they better give her soulless characters ! XD

Fingers crossed for Andy Serkis !

Kipling's Kaa is best Kaa!
Miles above Disney's bumbling idiot and femme fatale.

I was rooting for Disney's Kaa. Why would I condemn him for trying to eat a Darwin award contestant ?

It's true that Disney's Mowgli, despite his admirable skills in creating red boxers in the jungle, propably owes his survival to a criminal amount of luck. Nor can one deny his Kaa's charm. At the same time, a comic relief can hardly stand up to the paragon that Kaa was in the books. The way I see it, of course.

No problem. The only Kaa i dislike is Johanson's for being bland as fuck (then again , it's why she was fit for GITS...). Mowgli is another story since I cannot stand the Disney version. And I usually have 0 problems with Disney's iterations...

When I first read Kipling’s book (before I began my eighth grade year), I was a bit surprised that Kaa is portrayed as Mowgli’s ally rather than as a villain like in Disney’s animated film.Β

I haven’t seen the 1942 film, but is there any reason why you prefer it over the aforementioned Disney film?

devilkais In reply to coolerkinghilts [2018-11-20 14:22:31 +0000 UTC]

Simple. Mowgli in the book is a little badass (so is he in the movie and the anime...) while the Disney one made me wish to see the predators quench their hunger on him...

Never seen the 1942 movie. Closest I've seen of Kipling's Kaa was the wise but dangerous grandpa Kaa in the Soviet animated films.
