The Mask :
The movie has Stanley Ipkiss as a good-hearted but pushover of a man who uses the Mask to ... well ... satisfy his own desire , pull a prank whoever the fuck he wants and DO whatever the fuck he wants ! Yeah , after a better viewing , Carrey's Mask is pretty much amoral. The reason he doesn't seem all that dangerous is because the violence was toned down to make the Mask only as dangerous as its wearer. (though he still offers the mechanics an anal probing , shoots the street gang and offs Dorian Tyrell by flushing him...)
The animated version is definitely watered down , but then again he acts heroically because he DOES have to fight Tim Curry . It was one fun cartoon , still enjoy it to this day ... and it introduced me to Walter , who's always cool , Comics or cartoons !

Big Head:
The comic's true protagonist is the magical mask (a rocky looking one unlike the wooden movie one BTW ) which imbues the wearer with reality-bending powers , as well as bypassing the wearer's psychological inhibitions ESPECIALLY the murderous ones. Anyone who wears the mask would become this ultraviolent wacky, superpowered being with an abnormally large, bald, green-skinned head and a mouthful of large teeth. This allows for some versatility when it comes to wearers (the damn thing is quite the unfaithful bride, and it does have its own will).
Among the most famous masks wearers : Stanley Ipkiss ,his girlfriend Kathy , Lt. Kellaway, the Joker (and it was a freaking awesome story ! With the TRUE Clown Prince of Crime and Harley in her absolute best design...) EVEN FUCKING LOBO , how the hell did that happen ?!

Here is a scary thought : What would happen if both versions , the wacky lustful selfish Mask and the ultra-violent psychopath Big Head , teamed-up ? Actually I can picture Big Head singing this while going for the kill [link]

And No , Never watch Son of the mask ! If that movie wanted a true improvement , it should have had the baby strangling Kennedy with his own intestines while sporting a nightmarish toon face and the dog going around the neighborhood cartoonily butchering people just for the sake of it with various gardening tools. Now that would be a decent flick that knows what it wants to be !
